Worth A Read

Camille Paglia, a Democrat who supported Barack Obama, wonders why the media didn’t probe Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers. She also continues to admire Sarah Palin, yes, that’s right. A pro-choice female Democrat who believes Sarah Palin is good for feminism. Read the rest of this entry »

Three things McCain needs to say in the debate

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 14 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

Tomorrow John McCain will have his third and final debate with Barack Obama. This is his last chance to talk to the American people about his opponent and what he stands for.

Barack Obama gave John McCain a gift when he told the plumber he doesn’t want to punish his success, he just wants to spread the wealth. Joe Wurzelbacher, aka The Plumber, may just turn out to be America’s hero. I can’t wait to hear how Obama will spin that one. Read the rest of this entry »

Random Ramblings

I can’t help but wonder if the large Wall Street sell off is a reaction, at least in part, to the polls. Every day we hear Barack Obama and Democrats in general are up in the polls stocks take a nose dive.

Speaking of Barack Obama, he’s buying a half hour of prime time air time on CBS. We’ll be treated to a half hour lecture from the Pope of Hope on October 29. He’s negotiating with the other networks. Read the rest of this entry »

MSM on Spin Cycle

As John McCain and Sarah Palin turn up the heat on Barack Obama the mean stream media’s feeling the need to go into full spin cycle.

Since Sarah Palin’s jabs about Obama’s relationship with terrorist Bill Ayers, the media had no choice but to report the news, but they’re doing their darndest to change the subject or downplay the ties between Obama and Ayers. Read the rest of this entry »

The Ayers File

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 6 - 2008 5 COMMENTS

The GOP has released their Bill Ayers-Barack Obama file. Barack Obama and his campaign insist that Obama and Ayers were just casual acquaintences.

But Obama’s Connections With Bill Ayers Are Much More Extensive Than He Or His Campaign Staff Is Willing To Admit:

In 1995, During Obama’s First State Senate Campaign, William Ayers And Wife Bernadine Dohrn Hosted A Meeting Of Chicago Liberals At Their Home For Obama, Which One Attendee Said Was Aimed At “Launching Him.” “In 1995, State Senator Alice Palmer introduced her chosen successor, Barack Obama, to a few of the district’s influential liberals at the home of two well known figures on the local left: William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. While Ayers and Dohrn may be thought of in Hyde Park as local activists, they’re better known nationally as two of the most notorious — and unrepentant — figures from the violent fringe of the 1960s anti-war movement. … ‘I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,’ said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the info rmal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. ‘[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.’ … Dr. Young and another guest, Maria Warren, described it similarly: as an introduction to Hyde Park liberals of the handpicked successor to Palmer, a well-regarded figure on the left. ‘When I first met Barack Obama, he was giving a standard, innocuous little talk in the living room of those two legends-in-their-own-minds, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn,’ Warren wrote on her blog in 2005. ‘They were launching him — introducing him to the Hyde Park community as the best thing since sliced bread.’” (Ben Smith, “Obama Once Visited ’60s Radicals,” The Politico, 1/22/08) Read Full Story

Barry and Bill - BFF!

I don’t know about Chicago, but where I live terrorists are shunned. Even if a bomber lived or worked in close proximity, we’d probably shy away. Another thing I’m most certain of is that if a Republican Presidential candidate was buddies with a terrorist the cable news networks would have the story on a 24 hour loop.

Apparently, the American media is so desperate for socialism in America they’re willing to overlook slick Barry’s past associations. It’s too bad for Barry that AlGore invented the internet because bloggers have been all over Obama’s ties to Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. Thomas Lifson at American Thinker brings it all together in an easy to read coherent fashion, and there should be more to come.

But as far as the Democrats and the media are concerned it’s a non-issue. Chicago Mayor Richard Daley came right out and said that Obama and Ayers are friends and “so what?” There you have it. “So What?”

It’s the company you keep

A new conservative group has produced a television ad attacking Barack Obama for his relationship with former Weather Underground bomber Bill Ayers.

“How much do your really know about Barack Obama? What does he really believe?” asks the ad, which then cites the failed attack on the Capitol on 9/11, and links it to the Weather Underground attack on the Capitol decades earlier.

The group says it will spend $2.8 million airing the ad in Ohio and Michigan — which would be the largest single third-party expenditure this cycle.

“Why would Barack Obama be friends with someone who bombed the Capitol and is proud of it?” asks the narrator. “Do you know enough to elect Barack Obama?”

If Barack Obama’s been planning to run for President his whole life, then he is really stupid. He never thought his association with Ayers (or Rezco, of Rev. Wright….) would raise questions about his characted and judgment?

Obama on Patriotism

Posted by lonelyconservative On June - 30 - 2008 9 COMMENTS

Barack Obama gave another flowery speech, this time on patriotism. As usual, I had to read the transcript, because A) I have a job and B) his speeches really annoy me.

He starts out by reminding us that a revolution was fought against the tyranny of an Empire for the sake of liberty. It’s too bad he doesn’t really understand the definition of liberty. I doubt the founders of our great nation were fighting to create a government to be the great Robin Hood of the world. He said we need to think about our commitments not just to our nation, but to each other. Hmm….can you say “collectivist” anyone?

He asks how in this global economy we will ensure “the winners maintain allegiance to the less fortunate”. I’d like to know his definition of “winner”. Are “winners” the people who work hard, pay their bills and save for their retirement? Who is the “less fortunate”. The person who doesn’t hold a steady job, buys a home he cannot afford, runs up his credit cards and skips out on his kids? Whose job is it to define “winner” and “less fortunate”. Will he set up a committee?

Obama then reminisces about the culture wars of the 1960’s and the “so-called counter-culture” who were “burning flags” and “blaming America for all that was wrong with the world”. Who is he talking about? His good buddies William Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn? He left out the part about bombing American institutions.

Of course he had to include “America’s imperfections”. Has he given a speech where he doesn’t bring up our “imperfections?” He said we have an obligation to help our fellow citizens pursue their dreams. His choice of words is notable - rather than allowing our fellow citizens to pursue their dreams, he believes we must help them pursue their dreams.

As usual, he denigrated the Iraqis and bashed rich people. I agree with him on one point, that our government has put off much needed changes to our energy policy. He just seems to forget that it is his party keeping us from realizing energy independence.
