Card Check - The Road to Poverty

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 31 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Labor unions gave nearly half a billion dollars to Democrats to give them complete control of the federal government. They certainly expect something in return. It isn’t the squeakiest wheel anymore, it’s the deepest pockets and the unions have deep pockets and Democrats know it.

I have to wonder if union members are happy knowing their hard earned dues are being funnelled to Democrat candidates? Do they get a secret ballot to vote on where their union dues are spent? Ha! Just kidding! Not that they shouldn’t have a say, but I really doubt they do.

Workers should have the right to a secret ballot when deciding whether to unionize or not. How would you like a thug showing up at your door, saying you had to sign a card right there in front of him? Sounds intimidating, doesn’t it? If they do that to enough workers, voila! You’re in a union with someone else taking a chunk out of your check.

Gary Shapiro, CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, argues that the entitlement mentality taking over our great nation could destroy our economy. I tend to agree. Read the rest of this entry »

Destroying the American Dream 4% A Year

I’m not sure where you live, but where I live (Upstate New York) property taxes are out of control. Which is why I was happy to see this article in the Wall Street Journal. Not that I was happy to be reminded of the high tax burden here in New York. I was only thankful that someone noticed.

The article was about the Buffalo area in particular, but Syracuse, Rochester and all Upstate cities are facing the same problems. This is such a beautiful area, but the cities are in decline. One quarter of Buffalo’s housing is vacant. Is there a better solution to the foreclosure problem than bailouts?  Read the rest of this entry »

Liar, Liar

When Barack Obama vilified George Bush and warned of the dangers of four more years of Bush policies he also promised to change Washington. He promised a new day, hope, and to sweep away the old politics that plagued the government. With those pledges came a general euphoria and the media proclaimed the coming of “The One”, the world’s president. Foreign leaders lined up to welcome America’s change. They apparently felt Obama’s election signaled a better world.

Not so today. While the left rejoiced, Kenya celebrated, Oprah cried, and the media patted themselves on the back and made plans for ensuring his success, Obama, months away from taking office, began to show his true colors. Names like Podesta, Daschle, Clinton, and Holder have been penciled in to the key staff positions. We already knew we were in trouble when he picked his vice-president but who could have expected this line-up? Read the rest of this entry »

Barney Frank is a Moron

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 19 - 2008 7 COMMENTS

Bill O’Reilly’s talking points from tonight was about the auto companies begging for our money from Congress. He showed a video of Mitt Romney explaining why a bailout is a bad idea and then Barney Frank (about one minute or so into the video) saying he supports giving our money to the US auto industry because of “income inequality”. Venal CEOs and Villainous Democrats

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 19 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

As I listened to Detroit auto executives begging for taxpayer dollars, I was reading about how those same CEOs flew to Washington on private jets. They didn’t even jet-pool! Three private jets flew three CEOs to DC so they could put their grubby little hands out asking for a bailout that, according to Mitt Romney, will put them out of business. Talk about having a lot of nerve. They didn’t even look embarrassed.

How many times did the Democrats grill oil company CEOs about their “obscene profits” and their own compensation and benefits? Geez, at least oil company execs aren’t flying in on private jets pleading for a piece of the TARP!

The only big businesses Democrats like are the failed ones. They want windfall profit taxes on successful companies so they can turn around and throw it away on failed business models. They would be better off burning the money. Romney believes the best thing for the US automakers is to go bankrupt, and that to bail them out will ultimately lead to their demise. Top ten reasons to vote Democrats into Congress

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 31 - 2008 3 COMMENTS

Why vote for Dan Maffei, or any Democrat for Congress for that matter? Let me count the reasons!

1-You despise the First Amendment to the Constitution and want free speech wiped out with the Fairness Doctrine. You also despise the Second Amendment. Only criminals should have guns.

2-You believe the Constitution is a living, breathing document and you hope someone finally kills it once and for all.

3-You don’t believe employees have the right to a secret ballot when deciding on unionizing. You prefer that thugs show up at employees’ doors and make them sign a card. Read the rest of this entry »

Worth a Read

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 22 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

If you’re an undecided voter and you have a few minutes, you should read this column by Neal Boortz. It’s a bit long, but how does one make the case against Obama in a few paragraphs? There’s just so much to consider. Do you want your job to vanish? Vote Obama! Do you think employees are NOT entitled to the secret ballot when voting for unionization? Vote Obama.

If you’re a Republican or conservative who believes we should let Obma win so a “true conservative” will emerge in 2012 to save the day then I suggest you read The Consequences of Defeat by Michael Medved. He makes the case that the price of an Obama presidency is far to high to take that chance. Heck, even if you’re undecided you should read it. If you’re independent that probably means you aren’t a socialist.

Questions the media refuses to ask Obama

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 2 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

The media has spent a good deal of time trying to make Sarah Palin look bad. Even though she’s at the bottom of the Republican ticket, Palin has been under much more scrunity than Barack Obama. There’s even an Obama shill moderating tonight’s debate.

Barack Obama says whatever he wants and the media refuses to question him, or have any follow up questions. Same goes for Biden. Did Katie Couric ask him a follow up question when he said FDR came on TV in 1929 to address the nation? Don’t be silly! Why would she do that?

Matt Meyer writing for Townhall has a list three short questions he would like the media to ask Obama.

#1: What share of federal income taxes should the top 25% of American pay, and how many Americans should pay no federal taxes?

#2: Specifically, what three deregulatory actions caused the current financial crisis and exactly how did those actions lead to the financial meltdown.

#3: How do higher union rates make America more competitive and, therefore, stronger economically?

The article lampoons Obama’s proposals. It isn’t even that complicated. Since the media refuses to ask these questions perhaps John McCain and Sarah Palin will.
