2008 - What a long strange year it’s been!

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 29 - 2008 6 COMMENTS

Republicans, Democrats, conservatives, liberals and moderates can all agree that 2008 was an interesting year, to say the least. Who would have thought the New York Football Giants would have bested the New England Patriots in the Superbowl? If you thought that would be the strangest thing to happen this year you don’t follow politics too closely.

2008 kicked off in the midst of the Presidential primary season. Democrats bickered over who cared more about the impoverished and who wanted our troops out of Iraq sooner. Republicans went back and forth, each claiming to be the most conservative, while Republican voters kept wondering how they could channel Ronald Reagan. Read the rest of this entry »

Do you believe the main stream media did a good job covering the Presidential election?

Joe Scarborough Blasts MSM

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 16 - 2008 2 COMMENTS

H/T Hot Air

This is priceless. Scarborough takes the media to task for sending swarms of investigators to Wasilla, Alaska to dig up dirt on Sarah Palin, yet didn’t investigate Barack Obama’s background at all. The media fails to report anything about Obama until Obama tells them what to report. The media’s defense: instinct.

Are journalism schools teaching students to forget fact finding and just wing it on instinct?

Per MSM Assault on US President OK if President is Republican

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 16 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

You would think the US media would get over their Bush Derangement Syndrome. The man will be out of office in just over a month. But no, anything anti-Bush is worth dwelling on without shame for these folks.

Thanks to NewsBusters for keeping track. I’m sure you’ve heard by now that an Iraqi journalist threw two size 10 shoes at the President. President Bush handled the situation well. He waved off the secret service (not that they should have listened to him) and joked about it. I thought he showed a lot of class.

That’s not the aspect of the story the main stream media has decided to focus on. They’ve been reporting that the rude shoe thrower is now a folk hero to Iraqi’s. (The Iraqi’s who are embarrassed by the event receive scant coverage.) The worst offending media outlets are ABC and CBS. No surprise there. Read the rest of this entry »

ABC News - One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 11 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

For everything ABC News gets right, they get at least two things wrong (not even counting Good Morning America). What a pleasant surprise to find Jake Tapper questioning Barack Obama’s ties to Governor Blagojevich! That fuzzy feeling was short lived.

On Nightline Wednesday evening, Brian Ross identified as Demcrats all of the politicians condemning Blagojevich and calling for his resignation. Yet he failed to identify Blago as a Democrat. The closest he came to doing so was at the end of the segment when he said Blago was speaking at a Democratic Party gathering. Up until then, nothing. Does Ross assume Americans know Blagojevich is a Democrat but don’t know that Dick Durbin’s a Democrat?  Watch for yourself, maybe I missed something.

They do this sort of thing all the time. The other night on the local news they ran an ABC news clip about the auto industry bailout. Senator Mitch McConnell was explaining his opposition to giving money to failing industries. Since most Americans are against the bailing out the Big 3, ABC News decided to label Senator McConnell as “Senate Minority Leader.” Heaven forbid a Republican says something Americans want to hear.

Since it’s settled that most Americans (or at least those who voted for Obama) don’t know which party controlls the House or the Senate, “Senate Minority Leader” would mean nothing to them. So here’s a Republican, standing up and looking out for American taxpayers, and ABC News refuses to give him the “R” label.

If the tables were turned and he was involved in a juicy scandal the “R” would be plastered on the screen while the reporter gleefully announced his party affiliation.

Sarah Palin Must be Doing Something Right

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 5 - 2008 5 COMMENTS

You’d think the media and the left would get over Sarah Palin. The election’s over and she’s back to being Governor of Alaska. Yet they just can’t help themselves. It must be that she remains so popular, they feel the need to keep getting their digs in. They’ve transferred Bush Derangement Syndrome to Sarah Palin.

According to NewsBusters “Chris Matthews actually praised Sarah Palin for her ability to draw a crowd and even pegged her as the early frontrunner for the GOP nod in 2012, ‘Who’s gonna beat her?’ However the MSNBC host, later admitted giving Palin that much credit took a lot out of him as he confessed to a guest panelist: ‘This is really hard to do this, to salute Sarah Palin.”

Then Ed Rendell, at the governors’ convention said “Look, she has a right to be here,” Rendell said. “I think she has great instincts. She’s not a genius, but she has very good political instincts.” Read full story.

Of course she had a right to be at the governors’ convention-she’s a governor! And Ed Rendell’s one to talk about being a genius and political instincts. Give me a break. The problem they have is that Sarah Palin is refreshing and she energizes the Republican base, something no one else has been able do in quite a while. Look what she did for Saxby Chambliss.

If she never runs on a Presidential ticket again, the woman is still someone to be reckoned with. Even Oprah seems to recognize that. After snubbing Palin during the campaign, now Oprah’s whining because Sarah Palin hasn’t agreed to an interview. Good for Sarah!

The Great Obamawood Production

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 1 - 2008 3 COMMENTS

Does anyone else feel like you’re watching reruns of old classic sit coms like The Aventures of Ozzy and Harriet or Leave it to Beaver when you turn on the news? You know, as if the world has suddently become a big beautiful place where everyone loves each other and problems are solved in thirty minutes or less?

Listening to Obama’s news conference today and Hillary Clinton’s remarks about how America’s standing in the world is going to be restored made me want to skip down the sidewalk while whistling the Mayberry tune.

The media credits Obama for any Wall Street spikes, yet when Wall Street tanks it’s blamed on bad economic news or George W. Bush.

Reporters wonder how those awful terrorist attacks in India were carried out after the election of our new Dear Leader. It’s amazing the media even bothered to report the carnage in India, it certainly doesn’t fit their narrative. But not to worry, it can still be blamed on George W. Bush, as, much to their chagrin, Bush is still the President.

I get the feeling the next four (God help us if it’s eight) years the workings of our government will be presented to us as a massive Hollywood production. Scripted questions and answers, favorable lighting and feel good story lines. The villain will continue to be George W. Bush and the hero will (of course) be Barack Obama who can do no wrong.

Happy Days are here again, but I wonder how long it will take this production to jump the shark.

Media Bias! What Media Bias?

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 30 - 2008 14 COMMENTS

If you happen to tell an Obama voter that there’s media bias they look at you like you’re a stark raving lunatic. I’m not kidding. People who watch the Obama Media really believe Barack Obama has a lot of experience and Sarah Palin is a complete dunce. They’re baffled when they hear that Sarah Palin is the Governor of one of only 9 states with a budget surplus, and so what if she is.

Apparently, these people believe that when Republicans are in charge a budget surplus just happens. Yet when things go wrong it’s the fault of Republicans. I suppose it’s not surprising if people’s only source of news is the likes of ABC News. This morning George Stephanopoulos gave credit to Barack Obama for the recent rally on Wall Street, starting with his 3:00 PM Friday leak of Tim Geithner as Treasury Secretary. As pointed out by Noel Sheppard at NewsBusters, Stephanopoulos failed to address any other possible reasons for the stock rally. Read the rest of this entry »

Just Call Me Crazy

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 30 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

Why is it that those of us who worry about communism are considered crazy, yet the fact that real communists are rejoicing over recent political and economic events is ignored? Do Americans really want to live under communism?

Most Americans recognize that the USSR was an evil empire, and all but the most radical left wingers know that life in Cuba isn’t something to emulate. Yet they don’t seem to make the connection that the common thread between these (and many other) regimes is Marxist philosophy.

I suppose most people are unaware of the devasting consequences of communism, or if they are aware they believe that somehow Barack Obama and the Democrats will be better at it than Stalin, Castro and Chavez to name a few. Or maybe they just don’t recognize communism when they see it, because the media provides good cover to the communists among us.

Whatever the reason, most people don’t seem to know or care, which makes it that much easier for the Marxists to win. You can call me crazy, but history tells us that when Marxists win everybody loses.

MSM Weight Loss Plan for Conservatives

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 25 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

My gag reflex has been in overdrive due to the fawning by the media over Barack Obama. I throw up in my mouth a little bit every day. Today’s no different. Brent Bozell at NewsBusters has more documentation of the blatant media bias. As far as they’re concerned, Mr. Obama is a genius who can do no wrong. Mr. Bozell also goes back in time to recall the treatment of past Republican and Democratic presidents.

You’ll never guess which side received the favorable treatment! You guessed it, the Democrats! This despite the facts. Read the rest of this entry »

The Love Fest Continues

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 24 - 2008 2 COMMENTS

I caught a bit of ABC’s Obamalove at lunch time today and my stomach turned so I shut it off. Tonight NewsBusters is reporting that the Obamalove was even worse at CBS over the weekend.

On the Saturday Early Show on CBS, President-elect Barack Obama’s Cabinet picks were presented positively as correspondent Kimberly Dozier referred to a “superstar Cabinet,” and its members as “bold” and “inspired,” while co-anchor Erica Hill called the Cabinet “star-studded,” During the 8:00 a.m. hour, as she filed a story regarding Obama’s choices of Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State and Timothy Geithner, also from the Clinton administration, for Treasury Secretary, Dozier introduced her report: “Well, Obama’s Cabinet picks are coming one by one, and they’re calling it, in some cases, a ‘superstar Cabinet.’” After informing viewers that Obama may ask Defense Secretary Robert Gates to stay on, Dozier repeated the “superstar” label as she passed on praise from former Reagan Chief of Staff Ken Duberstein. Dozier: “Ronald Reagan’s former chief of staff says Obama’s taking a page from his boss’s book, choosing a superstar team for their skills, not their political persuasion.” Read full story and trascript at NewsBusters.

It’s going to be a long four years.

What’s going on with those birth certificate lawsuits?

Update: ABC News is at it again. Sickening.

Sorry Kate, we still have a Constitution

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 23 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

The media did everything possible to see to it that Barack Obama won the election. Ah, but that’s not good enough. At least not for Kate Snow. She’d like to see The One take over now, today. Too bad the Constitution gets in the way.

H/T NewsBusters who has a transcrip of the exchange between Ms. Snow and Paul Krugman (who was the voice of reason if you can believe that!)

Diane Sawyer Worships Barack Obama

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 21 - 2008 1 COMMENT

At the bottom of the hour on Good Morning America Diane Sawyer reverently read a passage from an essay Barack Obama wrote three years ago. It’s kind of creepy. Why don’t members of the main stream media just come right out and say they will no longer report news? They should just state that for the next four years they will do nothing but cheer on The One. They may actually gain some credibility.

More Democrat Hypocrisy Ignored by MSM

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 18 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

I forgot to change the channel after the local news ended and ABC News came on. They gave a little recap of the bailout hearing today in Congress. Of course they showed clips of Democrats like Maxine Waters and Barney Frank whining about how the bailout isn’t helping. I laughed out loud, and found it especially amusing that ABC News couldn’t find it in their hearts to allow the truth of the financial crisis to see the light of day. Click here for a live blog from the hearing (not ABC News).

As a refresher, it was the housing crisis that sent the house of cards tumbling down. The housing crisis was caused when banks were forced to give mortgage loans to people who weren’t credit worthy. So the banks and other financial institutions made lemonade out of the lemons dealt to them by our government. Some (Republicans) tried to do something about this ponzi scheme, but Maxine Waters, Barney Frank and other Democrats led the charge to keep it going. If you don’t believe me watch this video.

Now, not only are these idiots going to be left in charge of “bailing out” our financial system, they’ve increased their numbers. But hey, America has spoken. Apparently, incompetence, idiocy and corruption are all the rage these days.

How Obama Got Elected

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 18 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

All you have to do to expose the media’s bias towards Barack Obama is ask an average Obama voter a few questions. John Ziegler is working on a documentary - “Media Malpractice…How Obama Got Elected.” He produced this video after interviewing some Obama voters right after the election.
