The Kiss

Here’s a sight I never thought I’d see. George Bush planted one on the cheek of Barbara Streisand, and Babs actually smiled! Do you think she secretly has a crush on the Prez?

Liar, Liar

When Barack Obama vilified George Bush and warned of the dangers of four more years of Bush policies he also promised to change Washington. He promised a new day, hope, and to sweep away the old politics that plagued the government. With those pledges came a general euphoria and the media proclaimed the coming of “The One”, the world’s president. Foreign leaders lined up to welcome America’s change. They apparently felt Obama’s election signaled a better world.

Not so today. While the left rejoiced, Kenya celebrated, Oprah cried, and the media patted themselves on the back and made plans for ensuring his success, Obama, months away from taking office, began to show his true colors. Names like Podesta, Daschle, Clinton, and Holder have been penciled in to the key staff positions. We already knew we were in trouble when he picked his vice-president but who could have expected this line-up? Read the rest of this entry »

ABC World News - A ‘Get Out the Vote’ Ad for Obama

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 20 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

While reading ABC News’ “The Note” about how Colin Powell’s endorsement of Barack Obama pretty much drove the final nail in the coffin of the McCain campaign, their evening news broadcast began.

Barack Obama is campaigning with Hillary Clinton in Florida and encouraging democrats to use the early voting option. Barack told people they should do so because their cars could break down or they could sleep through their alarms on election day. Then ABC told us that 800,000 democrat voters didn’t vote when George Bush ran and if they had, John Kerry would be our President.

They went on to call Sarah Palin “damaged”, gush about Obama’s lead in the polls and tell us that Americans will be better off under Obama’s tax plan than John McCain’s “George Bush tax plan.”

This was yet another Obama campaign commercial disguised as news.

Huh?

The following conversation took place between four people.

#1-Barack Obama wants to require girls to register with the Selective Service. If the draft is ever re-instituted your daughters could be forced to do battle.

#2-That’s awful.

#3-Did you support the Iraq war?

#1-Huh?

#3-Did you support the Iraq war?

#1-Yes, but what’s that got to do with it?

#2-Some girls are tough enough for military service, but a lot of girls are really prissy. Can you imagine that?

#4-A lot of boys are prissy, too.

#1-Walked away. Read the rest of this entry »

Letters and Lessons from Abroad

Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the democrat choir continue singing the same old “Blame it on Bush’s failed economic policies” song. If there is any blame to be placed on President Bush for today’s economic disaster, it would be with his leadership skills (or lack thereof).

Had President Bush and the Republicans been more vocal about the problems with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac perhaps something would have been done to avert this crisis. Unfortunately, it’s too late and we will never know.

What we do know is that Barack Obama’s economic plan is modeled after European style policies of heavy taxation and increased dependence of the populace on the government. Lately America’s attention has been focused on the US economy so Europe’s problems have sort of flown under the radar.

Allen Wilson has been keeping me up to date on the state of things over in Europe, and they are no better off than we are. In fact it sounds like things may even be worse over there. Since George W. Bush has not been the leader of any European country, the democrats can’t blame Europe’s problems on Bush’s “failed economic policies.” Read the rest of this entry »

Krugman on the angry right - “raging rajas of resentment”

Posted by Lonely Conservative On September - 6 - 2008 5 COMMENTS

Lefty eliitst snobs not only don’t recognize the trait in themselves, they fail to admit there is any elitism coming from the left at all. Barack Obama’s remarks that bitter Americans cling to guns and religion, in their minds, is nothing more than a statement of fact. Paul Krugman proves it when he calls up the ghost of Richard Nixon in his latest piece. He argues that the GOP is still the party of Nixon. Now the Democrats not only get to run against George Bush, but also Richard Nixon.

But don’t be fooled either by Mr. McCain’s long-ago reputation as a maverick or by Ms. Palin’s appealing persona: the Republican Party, now more than ever, is firmly in the hands of the angry right, which has always been much bigger, much more influential and much angrier than its counterpart on the other side.

Is he serious? Has he ever seen the Daily Kos? What about Huffington Post, where they now have someone monitoring comments to weed out the hate and the obscene? Gee whiz, has he ever read any of his own columns?

He argues “there is no evidence whatsoever that Democrats look down their noses at regular people.” Isn’t telling regular people they aren’t able to handle their own affairs without the help of some liberal/socialist politician a form of “looking down” on them?

Republicans vs. Democrats - Substance vs. Style

The Democratic National Convention was long on style. They had all the props. Barack Obama conveyed the image of a leader. The cameras zoomed in on the many crying eyes in the audience. Yes, it was pretty. Unfortunately, it was woefully short on substance. We heard one tired liberal speech after another, the same speeches we’ve been hearing for decades.

On Monday the Republicans cancelled the speeches in respect for the victims of Hurricane Gustav. On Tuesday President and Laura Bush, Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman were able to talk about the accomplishments of Senator John McCain. They didn’t just tell us he would be a good leader, they told us why he would be a good leader.

Fred Thompson delivered a moving account of John McCain’s service to our country and the horror he went through as a POW of the Vietnemese. When Republicans talk about character they actually back it up with specific examples. Senator Thompson also highlighted the authentic accomplishments of Governor Palin.

Senator Joe Lieberman came out and said we’re all Americans first. Party comes second. He too, was able to back up his comments with specific examples of how John McCain is far more qualified to be the next President of the United States of America than Barack Obama.

Joe Lieberman said it best when he said “Eloquence is no substitute for a record.”
