Tomorrow the Supreme Court will conference on whether to hear the Obama citizenship lawsuit. It’s anybody’s guess what they will decide. I wouldn’t even try to guess, but the odds are against it.

There’s another interesting turn of events. A second lawsuit was sent to the Supreme Court, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg rejected it, so it was re-submitted to Justice Scalia. It was filed as an emergency stay and the petitioner was hoping it would be joined with the first lawsuit sent to the Supreme Court. I still don’t understand why Barack Obama doesn’t simply produce a his birth certificate and end all of this.

Update: According to the SCOTUS website, once a case is conferenced the disposition will be published the following Monday at 10:00 AM. So, my understanding is that we won’t know anything until Monday.

Update 12/8/08: The case brought by Leo Donofrio has been denied by the Supreme Court.

No main stream reporter is willing to break omerta when it comes to questions about Barack Obama’s citizenship and birth certificate. Even Republicans are sticking to the code of silence. It really makes no sense, surely, if a Republican candidate had such an issue hanging over his head it would be on the 24 hour news cycle.

Does anyone remember hearing about Sarah Palin’s passport, or lack thereof? Where in the Constitution does it say the vice president needs to have a valid passport? Oh that’s right, it doesn’t!

The best summary of the whole birth certificate issue was written by Joe the Farmer (another Joe with the audacity to ask a question.) If you have concerns about Obama’s citizenship, you should read Why the Barack Obama Birth Certificate Issue is Legitimate. Simply because Factcheck.org says it’s a non-issue doesn’t make it so. In Hawaii, a person born outside the US can legally have a birth certificate on file with the Department of Health. Without seeing the actual document, it’s impossible to know for sure if he was born in Hawaii.

Which leads to the question, why doesn’t Obama just produce the document? Joe the Farmer can think of three possible explanations.

1. He was not born in Hawaii, and may not be eligible to be President;

2. He was born in Hawaii, but facts that may be derived from his vault copy birth certificate are inconsistent with the life story he has told (and sold);

3. He was born in Hawaii, and his refusal to provide the best evidence that he is a natural born citizen is a means by which to draw criticism of him in order to make him appear to be a “victim.” This would energize his supporters. This would also make other charges about him seem suspect, including his concealment about ties to Bill Ayers and others of some infamy. Such a clever yet distasteful tactic would seem to be a Machiavelli- and Saul-Alinsky-style way to manipulate public opinion. But while this tactic may energize his supporters, it would convince those who believe him to be a manipulator that he’s not only just that, but a real pro at it. This would indeed be the basest reason of all, and would have repercussions about his trustworthiness (both here and abroad), which Americans know, is a characteristic sorely lacking in its leaders.

If only the media would address this issue, Obama might have no choice but to produce his birth certificate. But they won’t, so he won’t.

We’ll have to wait and see what Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has to say on December 5.

Why would the federal government even consider bailing out a corporation that has made horrible business decisions for years? GM should go bankrupt and re-organize under new management, at least that’s what Michael Levine writing for the Wall Street Journal thinks. I agree.

At least one United States Senator has some common sense. Sen. Jim Inhofe proposes a freeze on the “bailout” funds given to Secretary Paulson. That’s a fine idea. No more bailouts!

You probably won’t read about it in your local newspaper or hear it from the MSM, but the issue of Barack Obama’s birth certificate has not been resolved. Which just makes one wonder, why won’t he just produce the darn thing?

Phillip J. Berg, the Democrat who brought a lawsuit against Barack Obama challenging his qualifications to be president, is filing an appeal of the decision dismissing his claim.

Berg said, “I am totally disappointed by Judge Surrick’s decision and, for all citizens of the United States, I am immediately appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court.

This is a question of who has standing to uphold our Constitution. If I don’t have standing, if you don’t have standing, if your neighbor doesn’t have standing to question the eligibility of an individual to be President of the United States - the Commander-in-Chief, the most powerful person in the world - then who does?

So, anyone can just claim to be eligible for congress or the presidency without having their legal status, age or citizenship questioned.

According to Judge Surrick, we the people have no right to police the eligibility requirements under the U.S. Constitution.

We must legally prevent Obama, the unqualified candidate, from taking the Office of the Presidency of the United States,” Berg said.

The Obama campaign and the DNC have filed a joint motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Pennsylvania Democrat, Phil Berg claiming that Obama is not a US citizen. According to World Net Daily Berg has stated that if Obama produces a valid birth certificate he will gladly drop the suit.

The web site Obama Crimes has up to the minute information on the status of the lawsuit. In this press release Berg states that Obama and the Democrats are purposely slowing the legal process so this will remain unresolved until after the election, which according to Berg, would result in a Constitutional crisis.

In July Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs reported on the findings of a technical forensic expert’s examination of the photo of the birth certificate published by the Daily Kos which they allegedly obtained from the Hawaii Department of Health in 2007. The expert concluded that the Obama certificate is a “horrible forgery”. The detailed report contains many images and outlines the specific techniques he used to reach his conclusions. Also notable, but not surprising, is that he was threatened by left-wing psychopaths.

The big question is why Barack Obama won’t simply produce a certified copy of his birth certificate?  Wouldn’t that be much simpler than fighting a lawsuit?

Update 10/9/08: Earlier I went to check on the status of the Phil Berg lawsuit and when I clicked on the Obama Crimes website there was a message that the site crashed.

Update 10/25/08: Phil Berg’s lawsuit has been dismissed. The judge said Berg didn’t have standing to bring the law suit. This is ridiculous. World Net Daily is reporting that Berg told Michael Savage that he has a recording of Obama’s paternal grandmother in Kenya stating she was there in the maternity ward in Kenya when Barack Obama was born. He is waiting for an affidavit and said he will then release the tape. Berg believes the reason Obama won’t release his college records is due to the fact that he received foreign student aid, and that not only is Obama not a natural born citizen, that he is an illegal alien.

Why won’t Barack Obama produce a certified copy of his birth certificate? He’s running for President of the United States of America. Shouldn’t the people have the right to know if he is who he says he is? Are we to just hand him the keys to the Oval Office based on his word?

Mitchell Langbert created a petition to the FEC requesting that they verify Obama’s citizenship and also clarify what US agency bears the responsibility of verifying the citizenship of candidates.
