New RNC Ad Blasts Obama for Ties to Blago

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 15 - 2008 1 COMMENT

Of course, the RNC is being criticized for this ad and not surprisingly John McCain’s joined the chorus of critics. Here’s my question, why would Blago curse Obama for not going along with his pay to play scheme if Obama never know about it? Wouldn’t Obama need to know about it to refuse to participate?

Unsure About “Obama the Centrist” - Barack Obama really doesn’t care about foreign policy, it just isn’t his thing. When it comes to the economy, he needs to make sure the financial system is functioning. He’s about to expand the federal government more than we’ve seen since FDR. No, Obama’s no centrist.

Media Forgets That Wall Street Rip Off Artist is a BIG Democrat Donor - No surprise here. The media’s ignoring Bernard Madoff’s ties to the Democrat party.

GOP on the Comeback Trail - There’s a little life left in the Republican party after all. (Now if only all those so called conservatives would stop urging Republicans to be more liberal.)

Creepiness in the Sunday Ads

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 14 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

I love the Sunday paper. After reading the propaganda I enjoy moving on to the weekly ads, especially this time of year. The rib roast in the grocery ad looked so scrumptuous we decided that’s what we’ll serve for Christmas dinner. My stomache’s growling just thinking about it!

My husband and I discussed the merits of returning a gift we bought yesterday because it’s $10 less today. We’re not going to because the fine print noted the $10 savings is in the form of a rebate. Who needs the hassle?

Pepsi’s on sale at Target. We noticed their new logo bears a striking resemblance to the Obama logo.

I’ve never been a big fan of Pepsi. If I can’t get a Diet Coke I’ll drink a Diet Pepsi but it’s not my preference. Now I’m a bit worried that they altered more than the logo. Do you think they’re putting Obama Kool Aid in those cans?

Creepy!

Parade Magazine has a full page ad selling envelopes with pictures of Barack and Michelle Obama. Who would pay for such a thing? Why not buy a magazine or newspaper where you’re sure to find plenty of flattering photos of the first couple to be? Read the rest of this entry »

The Carbon Busters are Coming!

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 12 - 2008 1 COMMENT

I must admit, it was a brilliant move for Barack Obama to appoint “centrists”  to his cabinet early and with much fanfare. Some would argue the point that they really aren’t centrists, but why bother. We’ll find out soon enough how moderate they really are.

But there’s nary a soul who can make a convincing argument that his energy team is anything but a bunch of left wing, tree hugging, economy killing ideologues. The Wall Street Journal predicts big carbon taxes in the midst of a depression. Read the rest of this entry »

Blagojevich - What Lies Beneath

Posted by Allen Wilson On December - 9 - 2008 2 COMMENTS

Just think about this as the story unfolds and blankets the media with the latest tasty morsel of political intrigue, who knew.

Read between the lines, look beneath the surface, wake up and smell the coffee. Who had to know Blagojevich was working his game, and why didn’t THEY  blow the whistle? Not telling may not be illegal, but it raises serious ethical questions. Who were these deals offered to and why didn’t they scream foul?

Just Your Typical Illinois Politician

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 9 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS
Did you happen to read the complaint against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich? It’s like a soap opera. This guy’s taken political corruption to a whole new level. Or has he? Is he simply someone who just happened to get caught?

In summary, the Democrat from Illinois is accused of corrupt fundraising, trying to sell Barack Obama’s Senate seat to the highest bidder, threatening the Tribune Company with loss of state funding if they didn’t fire editors and engaging in pay-to-play schemes. Basically, just your typical Illinois politician, albeit one with very colorful language.

It will be interesting to see if the main stream media identifies Governor Shakedown as a Democrat or mentions his ties to President-elect Barack Obama.

Update: Interestingly, ABC News’ Political Punch has a story about Obama’s connections to Blago. Do you think it will be mentioned on World News or Nightline?

It looks like the Supreme Court has denied Leo Donofrio’s application to stay the election in the Obama citizenship lawsuit. This doesn’t really come as a surprise, and doesn’t bode well for the other lawsuits pending.

The Supreme Court has turned down an emergency appeal from a New Jersey man who says President-elect Barack Obama is ineligible to be president because he was a British subject at birth.

The court did not comment on its order Monday rejecting the call by Leo Donofrio of East Brunswick, N.J., to intervene in the presidential election. Full Story.

Barbara Walters loves the lead up to her “Ten Most Fascinating People” special. She reveals the nine runners-up and keeps the most fascinating character a secret until the very end of the show. This year was no different, but I doubt anyone was surprised. In case you’ve been visiting another planet for the past two years, she chose Barack Obama.

What she should have done was tell people ahead of time “You know Barack Obama is going to be the most fascinating, but the other nine will be kept secret until the show airs.” That would have been more suspensful.

As expected, Barbara Walters treated celebrities like they’re Einstein and conservatives like they’re some sort of strange curiosity. She took one of Rush Limbaugh’s comments out of context and when he praised Sarah Palin, Walters called Palin uninformed. She and Tina Fey shared a few smug moments while Tina Fey continued her demeaning impersonation of Sarah Palin. To cap things off before the big finale, with a beaming smile on her face, Walters basically called Sarah Palin a loser.

Then it was on to heaping praise on “The One.” No surprise there, just more of the same.

The Irony of Bailouts and Politics

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 4 - 2008 6 COMMENTS

At least one sector of the US economy was booming this year. While the economic downturn has hit everything from Wall Street to Motor City, one big business has done quite well - politics.

John McCain and the Republicans spent about $550 million in the general election. Not bad when times are tough.

Barack Obama and the Democrats were the big winners, raising an estimated $847 million dollars. In fact, the Obama campaign raised so much money they couldn’t spend it all in time, so his staffers received bonuses of a whole month’s salary.

It wasn’t just the Presidential campaign that had money pouring in. Congressional Democrats received hundreds of millions of dollars from the UAW and US auto companies.

The unions and auto companies weren’t alone in their big contributions to Democrats. Wall Street was right there with them. It seems that everyone receiving or begging for taxpayer dollars today was mighty generous to the Dems over the past few months.

Now our elected officials are about to fork over billions more to people who earn far more money than the average taxpayer. If that’s not bad enough, those of us who would never send a dime to a Democrat will be sending billions to the companies that helped get those Democrats elected.

Talk about irony.

Supreme Court to Decide Whether to Hear Citizenship Case

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 4 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Tomorrow the Supreme Court will conference on whether to hear the Obama citizenship lawsuit. It’s anybody’s guess what they will decide. I wouldn’t even try to guess, but the odds are against it.

Many petitioners seeking stays of pending events have their cases distributed to the full court, he said. Of those, Volokh found that 782 were denied in the last eight years while just 60 were heard — and not all of those ultimately were successful. Read full article.

There’s another interesting turn of events. A second lawsuit was sent to the Supreme Court, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg rejected it, so it was re-submitted to Justice Scalia. It was filed as an emergency stay and the petitioner was hoping it would be joined with the first lawsuit sent to the Supreme Court. Inexplicably, a law clerk intercepted the paperwork and referred it for anthrax testing. Read full story at Radio Patriot.

I still don’t understand why Barack Obama doesn’t simply produce a his birth certificate and end all of this.

Update: According to the SCOTUS website, once a case is conferenced the disposition will be published the following Monday at 10:00 AM. So, my understanding is that we won’t know anything until Monday.

Update 12/8/08: The case brought by Leo Donofrio has been denied by the Supreme Court.
