Predictions

Posted by Lonely Conservative On January - 2 - 2009 1 COMMENT

Not everyone believes the economy’s going to get better in 2009. Noriel Roubini thinks we’re in for a prolonged recession. 2008 could end up looking like a good year. Shudder!

Move over Paris, there’s a new celebrity in town. Barack Obama’s the biggest celebrity in the world and the tabloids love him. We can expect more swooning and drooling from the media in 2009.

Don’t expect the media to suddenly become honest or unbiased in 2009. They’ll continue their slanted reporting of the Israel/Hamas conflict and Barack Obama will continue with his free pass from the media. There’s no doubt Cuba’s fifty years of oppression and tyranny will be overlooked while myths and outright lies will make the news.

Newspapers will jump aboard the bailout bandwagon. How can Obama and the Dems not fork over our money to them after all the free advertising?

Cheers!

Outrageous!

Did you hear that Chrysler bought full page ads in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and USA Today to thank Americans for the bailout? I heard that the total for the ads would have come to between $500,000 and $600,000!

Can you believe the complete nerve and stupidity of these people? They took our money and turned around to use it to rub our faces in it! It’s no wonder Chrysler needed a bailout. There’s no voice of sanity in their management to tell them this ad buy was a bad idea.

I say “Boycott Chrysler!”

Will you purchase an automobile from a US automaker that accepts government bailout funds?

The Detroit Elephant in the Room

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 10 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Did anyone else notice that while the Big 3 CEO’s were in Washington with their tin cups begging for taxpayer funds, none of them mentioned CAFE standards required by Congress? Talk about an elephant in the room! At least when they’re manufacturing  SUV’s and luxury cars the companies can make a profit, justifying meeting the UAW’s demands.

I guess it’s politically incorrect to criticize Congress these days. They hold the bailout purse strings.

It isn’t that the auto companies don’t understand that Congress has mandated a failed business model. Holman W. Jenkins at the Wall Street Journal came across an email written by GM’s vice chairman. Read the rest of this entry »

UAW - Begging for a Bailout

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 5 - 2008 1 COMMENT

I don’t want to see any US company fail. I love my Ford, but come on, enough is enough. Should I work until I’m 80 years old to pay for these folks to retire at 50?

Common Sense is So Yesterday

Fred Thompson explains our government’s plan to spend our way out of what we spent our way into. This is great!

News Roundup

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 22 - 2008 2 COMMENTS

Moderate Democrate John Dingell’s out as Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Henry Waxman’s in, which doesn’t bode well for the business community.

John McCain and Barack Obama met earlier this week. I was thinking “Now McCain can go back to being a Democrat.” Apparently, I wasn’t the only one thinking that.

Barack Obama has named Tim Geithner as his pick for Treasury Secretary and Bill Richardson for Commerce. The market reacted positively. Whether that holds up next week is unknown. Didn’t Geithner have a hand in the bailout of AIG?

There may be a rift between Nancy Pelosi and the new adminstration. It’s been reported that Obama supports a pre-packaged bankruptcy for the US automakers (who reject the idea), while Pelosi says bankruptcy should be taken off the table. This could be interesting.

It’s almost official, Hillary Clinton will be our next Secretary of State. I wonder who will take her place in the Senate. I need a Tagamet.

Sarah Palin pardoned a turkey and during a post-pardon interview another turkey met his maker. I don’t understand the big deal. Where do people thing their Thanksgiving turkeys come from?

Five million people are expected to descend on Washington DC for Barack Obama’s inauguration. Why does the thought of 5 Million people in one place conjure up images of the Super Dome after Hurricane Katrina? All I can say is “Good luck, folks.”

Barney Frank is a Moron

Bill O’Reilly’s talking points from tonight was about the auto companies begging for our money from Congress. He showed a video of Mitt Romney explaining why a bailout is a bad idea and then Barney Frank (about one minute or so into the video) saying he supports giving our money to the US auto industry because of “income inequality”. Venal CEOs and Villainous Democrats

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 19 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

As I listened to Detroit auto executives begging for taxpayer dollars, I was reading about how those same CEOs flew to Washington on private jets. They didn’t even jet-pool! Three private jets flew three CEOs to DC so they could put their grubby little hands out asking for a bailout that, according to Mitt Romney, will put them out of business. Talk about having a lot of nerve. They didn’t even look embarrassed.

How many times did the Democrats grill oil company CEOs about their “obscene profits” and their own compensation and benefits? Geez, at least oil company execs aren’t flying in on private jets pleading for a piece of the TARP!

The only big businesses Democrats like are the failed ones. They want windfall profit taxes on successful companies so they can turn around and throw it away on failed business models. They would be better off burning the money. Romney believes the best thing for the US automakers is to go bankrupt, and that to bail them out will ultimately lead to their demise. What Have We Learned So Far

Posted by Allen Wilson On November - 19 - 2008 1 COMMENT

We learned from the first talks on bailouts that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. It’s time to email, call, write and blog to stop bailouts for the auto industry. What makes me shudder is the plain and simple fact that the answer to “too big to fail” is let them get smaller. For a political elite that wants us to believe they are the big giant heads in this country they haven’t shown the common sense of a ten year old.

Here in the United Kingdom the liberal party in power has admitted that the country is in the worst financial condition for decades. Their opponents, the conservatives have said enough is enough and they will no longer support the governments plans. Read the rest of this entry »

More Democrat Hypocrisy Ignored by MSM

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 18 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

I forgot to change the channel after the local news ended and ABC News came on. They gave a little recap of the bailout hearing today in Congress. Of course they showed clips of Democrats like Maxine Waters and Barney Frank whining about how the bailout isn’t helping. I laughed out loud, and found it especially amusing that ABC News couldn’t find it in their hearts to allow the truth of the financial crisis to see the light of day. Click here for a live blog from the hearing (not ABC News).

As a refresher, it was the housing crisis that sent the house of cards tumbling down. The housing crisis was caused when banks were forced to give mortgage loans to people who weren’t credit worthy. So the banks and other financial institutions made lemonade out of the lemons dealt to them by our government. Some (Republicans) tried to do something about this ponzi scheme, but Maxine Waters, Barney Frank and other Democrats led the charge to keep it going. If you don’t believe me watch this video.

Now, not only are these idiots going to be left in charge of “bailing out” our financial system, they’ve increased their numbers. But hey, America has spoken. Apparently, incompetence, idiocy and corruption are all the rage these days.

Kucinich - You Lost me at Private Sector

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 15 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

Dennis Kucinich questioned Neel Kashkari about the bailout. I wasn’t a fan of the bailout, so you’d think I would cheer Mr. Kucinich on. But this clip begins with “We started with the private sector and we got subprime loans.” Is he kidding? What part of “Government Sponsored Enterprise” does he not understand. Clearly this idiot has no understanding of how this whole thing started. Good grief, I’d say the foxes are guarding the hen house, but that would be an insult to foxes.
