America’s New Religion

Posted by Lonely Conservative On January - 4 - 2009 2 COMMENTS

The new religion in America has nothing to do with God. The new religion is secularism and it threatens America’s greatness and our way of life. So charges Herbert London in America’s Secular Challenge-The rise of a New National Religion.

Mr. London makes a compelling case that the rise of secularism will bring about the fall of American exceptionalism. He questions how we will fight radical Islamists if we ourselves don’t believe in anything.

He beats down the secularist argument that science and religion cannot coexist, citing examples of how science and religion have not only coexisted but flourished when working side by side. (Ironically, one thing science has been unable to prove is that there is no Creator.)

This well timed text reminds us of what makes America great and warns of what will bring about our downfall. Economic freedom without moral reason (think Bernard Madoff), or any freedom without moral constraints is hazardous.

The Vietnam War brought about a tremendous distrust of authority, of both religion and government. It seems the distrust of religion remains, yet we’re putting our very well being into the hands of the government. Mr. London warns that the “bureaucracy of the state can, and has, supplanted civil society’s role in carrying out a perceived national mission.”

Collectivism cannot make us altruistic. The government cannot force empathy. Belief and morality matter. Values matter. The Christian values that made our country great matter.

This book is an excellent reminder of why these things matter and the consequences of changing our values with the changing times.

It’s official - Joe Biden will have something to do

Posted by Lonely Conservative On December - 21 - 2008 1 COMMENT

Thank goodness Joe Biden will be kept busy the next four years. He’s finally been given a role to play in the new administration.

As vice president, Joe Biden will oversee an Obama administration effort to find ways of building up the ranks of the middle class, that ambiguously defined segment of society most Americans identify with.

The task force will include four Cabinet members as well as other presidential advisers, the Obama transition team announced Sunday.

The goal is to recommend proposals to ensure the middle class is “no longer being left behind,” Biden said. The proposals could include executive orders and legislative plans. Read full story.

I wonder how they plan to expand the middle class? Bringing rich people down to our level and giving their money to poor people? If that’s the case, there won’t be a middle class. How utopian.

Just Call Me Crazy

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 30 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

Why is it that those of us who worry about communism are considered crazy, yet the fact that real communists are rejoicing over recent political and economic events is ignored? Do Americans really want to live under communism?

Most Americans recognize that the USSR was an evil empire, and all but the most radical left wingers know that life in Cuba isn’t something to emulate. Yet they don’t seem to make the connection that the common thread between these (and many other) regimes is Marxist philosophy.

I suppose most people are unaware of the devasting consequences of communism, or if they are aware they believe that somehow Barack Obama and the Democrats will be better at it than Stalin, Castro and Chavez to name a few. Or maybe they just don’t recognize communism when they see it, because the media provides good cover to the communists among us.

Whatever the reason, most people don’t seem to know or care, which makes it that much easier for the Marxists to win. You can call me crazy, but history tells us that when Marxists win everybody loses.

Rahm Emanuel’s Plan for Obligatory Service

Posted by Lonely Conservative On November - 13 - 2008 7 COMMENTS

Check out this podcast interview of Rahm Emanuel’s plan for mandatory civil service. The idea is to require yound adults between the age of 18 and 23 to complete 3 to 4 months of “universal civil defense training.” He described this obligatory service as “a common experience” that will “give people a sense of what it’s like to be American.” Emanuel scoffed at the interviewer’s concerns about barracks and uniforms. There was no mention of any exceptions for people who have to work for a living.

The “national civilian security force” Obama’s talked about sounds a lot like Emanuel’s plan.

Perhaps you don’t want to read The Death of the American Idea by Mark Steyn. We keep saying we’re a center-right nation, yet we’re on a constant move to the left, no matter who is in office. Is it too late?

I disagree with my fellow conservatives who think the Obama-Pelosi-Reid-Frank liberal behemoth will so obviously screw up that they’ll be routed in two or four years’ time. The President-elect’s so-called “tax cut” will absolve 48 percent of Americans from paying any federal income tax at all, while those that are left will pay more. Just under half the population will be, as Daniel Henninger pointed out in the Wall Street Journal, on the dole. By 2012, it will be more than half, and this will be an electorate where the majority of the electorate will be able to vote itself more lollipops from the minority of their compatriots still dumb enough to prioritize self-reliance, dynamism, and innovation over the sedating cocoon of the nanny state. That is the death of the American idea - which, after all, began as an economic argument: “No taxation without representation” is a great rallying cry. “No representation without taxation” has less mass appeal. For how do you tell an electorate living high off the entitlement hog that it’s unsustainable and you’ve got to give some of it back? Read full article.

Is collectivism now the norm in America? In his acceptance speech Barack Obama said “We are not just a nation of individuals.” I pray he’s wrong, but I’m afraid he may be right.

Obama - Your true intentions are showing!

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 31 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

The Obama campaign has been pushing hard for early voting. Why is that? Could it be that every day Obama, Biden and their surrogates leak a little more about what life will be like under an Obama administration?

Joe Biden warned us that our enemies in the world will test Barack Obama and Obama’s response will be wildly unpopular. He’s also lowered the bar for middle class, it was $250,000, then $200,000 and last week it was $150,000.

Bill Richardson just told us “What Obama wants to do is he is basically looking at $120,000 and under among those that are in the middle class, and there is a tax cut for those.” How low will it go?

Barack Obama has said he wants to spread the wealth around, but now he’s trying to lower expectations of the masses, since any idiot knows life will not improve for Americans under Barack Obama.

The most telling of all of the slip ups of Obama surrogates came from Rep. Marcy Kaptur (watch video) when she introduced Senator Obama at a campaign rally. She said we will have a second Bill of Rights. For this gang the first Bill of Rights wasn’t good enough. Read the rest of this entry »

If this doesn’t scare you I don’t know what will

If you only have time to read one thing between now and election day, I urge you….make that beg you, to read The Cloward-Piven Strategy, Part III: Conspiracy of the Lemmings by Jim Simpson. It’s a bit long so print it and read it at your liesure. It’s far scarier than any movie you may watch this Halloween.

By now you’ve heard about Barack Obama’s past associations, but if you haven’t been following closely you may not know the significance of those associations or why it’s so important for the American people to know this information. Simpson has again tied everything together for you. Read the article. If you have doubts click on the many links he’s provided backing up his assertions.

This election may well be the most important in our nation’s history. An Obama presidency could not come at a worse time. The world economy stands on the edge of an abyss. If enacted, Obama’s socialist class warfare economic policies will push it right over the edge and we could see the nightmare scenario outlined above come to fruition.

And now I’ll tell you why I think they have pulled out all the stops. From eye-popping, unprecedented bias in the media to biased opinion polls, from unprecedented levels of questionable donations, including illegal foreign money flowing into Obama’s campaign coffers, to astronomical levels of voter registration fraud, there has never been an election season like this. They are going for broke because they believe that this is the last time they will ever have to do it. With majorities in both houses of Congress and a leftist in the White House, they will finally own the store completely. They are hoping to never have to give it up again.

When Obama said, “We are the ones We have been waiting for,” he was talking about “we the communists.”

I can only hope and pray that it is not too late for our great country. Read full article.

Please, read the entire article before you vote on Tuesday and share it with everyone you know. Why hasn’t the press done their job and vetted this man? Why is he so unkown to so many of us, other than the carefully crafted image he wants us to see? This is the future of all of us, our children and our grandchildren.

If you care about liberty and freedom vote for John McCain or Sarah Palin. If you’re a life long Democrat and can’t bring yourself to vote for a Republican you can leave the Presidential line blank or vote for Bob Barr or  Ralph Nader. But how can you read this article and not come away with reasonable doubt about Barack Obama’s (and Nancy Pelosi) ideology, motive or plans?

‘Atlas Shrugged’ coming to the big screen?

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 26 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

Angelina Jolie, a reported fan of Ayn Rand, will star as Dagny Taggart in the film version of the novel ‘Atlas Shrugged,’ saying it’s a  ”Once in a lifetime film.” Apparently the film is set to be released sometime in 2009, but I don’t know if that’s a rumor.

I can’t remember the last time I was excited about a movie. I think it was before I had kids. To say I can’t wait for the release of this film is an understatement. I only wish it could have come out before the election. I’ll keep an eye out and if any new information becomes available I’ll let you know.

In the mean time, if you haven’t read ‘Atlas Shrugged’ you should. Don’t you want to know “Who is John Galt?”

1995 Obama Interview-Looking for Collective Salvation

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 25 - 2008 9 COMMENTS

This video contains excerpts of a 1995 interview of Barack Obama about his book “Dreams from my Father” and race relations in the United States. Click here for full transcript.

He said that white people don’t want to pay taxes to help city children. He said that for people to have good jobs we have to make sure they have child care and housing, and that’s the responsibility of society. We have to make sacrifices now for a new day and a new age. The solutions will require an investment of time, energy and money.

Obama compares Bosnia to Los Angeles and blames the problems on “ONE GROUP” trying to suppress another group. He said that his fate remains tied up with the fate of the African American community and his own salvation won’t come about without a “collective salvation for the country.”

I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m perfectly happy seeing to my own salvation.

Circumventing the Republican Process

Posted by Lonely Conservative On October - 8 - 2008 6 COMMENTS

The founders of the United States of America recongized the dangers of pure democracy. With that in mind, they went about creating a republican form of government. Sovereign states joined together to form a union, with built in protections against factions.

James Madison explained this in Federalist #10. Madison recognized societal divisions and class warfare. Read the rest of this entry »

How the Democrats get it wrong

Posted by Lonely Conservative On August - 26 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

The Democrats are in the limelight this week at their carefully scripted media event. They’ve been on their best behavior, delivering one meticulous speech after another, designed to leave voters with warm fuzzy feelings they hope will translate into votes.

A world with poverty is bad and must be changed. Expensive health care should be free for all. We should volunteer to help the least among us. Who could argue with those sentiments?

What they don’t seem to understand is that the world is made up of unique individuals. Each of us has our own peculiar mix of circumstance, perception, abilitiy and diligence. No politician or party can change that.

The Democrats want to guarantee not only a level playing field, but an equal outcome. That is impossible. Human beings make mistakes. Can they promise we will learn from our mistakes? Of course not. Can they legislate ambition and talent? Do they have the ability to increase and individual’s IQ?  That’s just silly.

Another question to ask is just who are the least among us? Poor people? Would a poor person with dignity and pride consider him or herself “the least among us”? Does a disability make one the “least among us”? That’s insulting.

Their call for volunteerism is also cause for alarm. Barack Obama’s plan will require students to volunteer. If it’s required it isn’t volunteerism, it’s servitude. When people volunteer they usually do so for selfish reasons; helping others makes us feel good, or we see a need in our community and step up to make our community better. That can’t be legislated, it’s human nature. What this policy could do is make people resentful of those they are supposed to be helping.

The policies proposed by Barack Obama have been tried and have failed. Just ask the people of Cuba who put their lives at risk for a chance to make it on their own.

New DNC Platform - “Help Yourself”

Posted by Lonely Conservative On August - 11 - 2008 2 COMMENTS

The DNC announced today that their focus at this year’s convention will be on “unity” (code for national collectivism), “security” (code for global collectivism) and “change” (code for that’s all you’ll have left by the time we’re done with you.) It seems that liberals have misinterpreted the old quote “God helps those who help themselves.” They must think it means “God helps those who help themselves to the fruits of another’s labor.”

Barack Obama has promised American families $1000 which he will take from oil companies’ profits, despite the fact that they already pay $3.00 in taxes for every $1.00 of profit earned. And don’t forget about his health care proposals, which sound fantastic until you start thinking about how we will pay for them or what these proposals will entail. He’s even called for the “winners” to keep their allegience to the “less fortunate”. I still haven’t heard him explain who exactly the “winners and less fortunate” are. Maybe he’ll clear that up for us at the convention.

He has also promised to put an end to George Bush’s tax cuts for the rich. The left would like you to believe that tax cuts take money from poor people and give it to rich people, which couldn’t be farther from the truth. A tax is money taken from a portion of an individual or a company’s earnings or profits. Cutting taxes is simply taking a smaller percentage of the taxpayer’s earnings or profits. How is giving a tax cut to anyone taking money from anyone else (other than the government, who really needs to learn how to balance a budget)?

The problem the Democrats have with tax cuts is that it means (in their minds) less money with which to buy votes.

Does anyone else see the irony?

Barack Obama is planning to give a speech in Berlin this summer. Apparently, he wants to speak about “re-building the trans-Atlantic alliance”, whatever the heck that means. Didn’t the election of Angela Merkel do that already?

One has to wonder which Obama will be speaking in Berlin. Will it be the far left Obama beloved by the American Communist Party or will Obama’s second act continue? You know, the one where he pretends to be a more centrist candidate in the hopes of gaining favor with those of us who hold more traditional values.

It is very ironic, that a man whose policy proposals seem to be right out of the Communist Manifesto has chosen Berlin as the venue of a major speech.
