About the Lonely Conservative
I am married to a great guy and we have two young sons. It’s my job to raise them to be responsible, independent and moral human beings.
I have a full time job that has nothing to do with politics. I understand that life isn’t always easy but if we work hard and make responsible choices we will be fine. If you work hard and are good at what you do you just may carve out a nice little life for yourself. I did.
I believe that those of us who make the right choices should not be required to pay for those who don’t. I work to benefit myself and my family, period. I also don’t expect another to work to support me. I am happy to contribute to charity and do so regularly. I tend to vote Republican because Republicans are the lesser of two evils. Every now and then a good one comes along and I will do everything I can to support that individual.
Most of my family members are conservative, like me. But I have a lot of friends and co-workers who totally disagree with me politically. On occasion I do try to change their minds, but for the most part I try my best to avoid the heated debates (which sometimes turn into name-calling arguments), because even though we may disagree about politics I still love these folks. Maybe I should try to be more subtle.
Feel free to send me an email at LonelyConservative@Yahoo.com

The topic of health care in the 2008 U.S. presidential election is one that is high on the minds of Americans. However, while most people are well aware of the immense challenges facing our health system (rising costs of medical care, malpractice, high prescription drug costs, medical bankruptcies, employers dropping coverage, 47 million uninsured Americans, etc.), they have less understanding of the specific solutions proposed by Senators Obama and McCain.
We invite you to write a post about the topic of health care in ’08. There are clear policy differences between the Obama and McCain plans, who come from two differing philosophies on health care reform.
“HealthDecision ’08: Obama and McCain on Health Care” is an initiative by HealthCare.com (http://www.healthcare.com) to help potential voters understand each candidate’s position. It is an objective comparison of the two platforms, and provides analysis as to the strengths and weaknesses of each. Most importantly, HealthDecision ’08 provides an interactive voting tool that allows users to “vote” for a preferred plan. HealthDecision can be accessed at http://decision.healthcare.com/obama-mccain/.
HealthDecision ’08 will provide you with much of the primary research with which to form a post. In addition, we provide you with links to third-party election coverage from Health08.org, NPR, The New England Journal of Medicine, NY Times, National Journal, U.S. News, WebMD and many other sites, that may serve as supplemental information sources.
I hope you’ll join us in our effort to raise voter understanding on this very important issue. We hope that you will use our information, and also link your readers to our site in order to have their voices heard.
Lastly, if you’re interested in posting real-time results of the HealthDecision ’08 poll, please reply to this email for instructions on embedded our widget onto your blog.
Thank you.

Hi,
I found you through an article that was on RealClearPolitics. I am not going to resort to name-calling, I’m sure you believe what you are saying. Your idea that you work to support your family and no one else is cute, in theory. I read your review of Palin’s scripted, softball performance on FOX (really what did you expect from a candidate that every effort is being made to conceal her from the public; and if she was nervous at ALL on Fox of all places, that isn’t a good sign). Having a view that you are not a citizen of the world is pleasant, but you have to remember there are many many other people in the world who have no privileges, no rights, are physically or psychologically impaired, etc, etc, that cannot take care of themselves. If you believe you have no responsibility to help those people, what do you think all of these people are going to do? Believe me, history has shown they will take an interest in you, if you chose not to take any responsibility for them. No one asks to be born — we’re all in this together like it or not.

Tim D-Conservatives are far more generous than liberals. We give to charities and churches. They are much more efficient at helping people than the federal government will ever be. We believe in giving a hand up not a hand out. The welfare/entitlement system promotes dependency. I would prefer to be poor and independent than to be poor and dependent on the government. Look where the liberal good intentions of giving mortgages and credit to people who can’t afford it got us! Have you not watched the news lately? Where do you think this all started? Look up the Community Reinvestment Act. Read some of my old posts. Politicians and their cronies distorted and abused the capitalist system and now we all are paying the price. Your solution is just more taxation. How do you decide who is needy and who isn’t? Who makes that call? If you people have your way I will quit. I will get a job as a waitress and earn only what I need for the bare essentials of my family. I refuse to be a slave to you or anybody else.

LonelyConservative,
I just found your site. Very cool. I agree 100% with your sentiments. Sarah Palin rocks, btw.
As for this “citizen of the world” malarkey, that is code word for socialism, which is code word for indentured servitude.
I just wish I could go back in time and speak with George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, lol. I’d love their take on the current state of affairs.
Oh yeah, and you can tell I am 100% confident in my beliefs because I use my real name on here. No need to hide behind a false one, or a nickname. That’s for the spineless.

Thank you Scott! I think George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are rolling in their graves.

Being poor is a state of mind, being broke is just a temporary inconvenience for anyone willing and able to work. There is already assistance for those unable to work thru SS, SSI Medicare and medicaid. Neighbors, churches, family and friends help those who need a hand up…But hand outs that become a way of life is not something I want to pay for.
