Donations Made Through Trump’s Veterans’ Website Go To His Personal Foundation

It will be interesting to hear the excuses Trump’s supporters make for this. It must get tiring making excuses for his prior support for Democrats, bank bailouts (even suggesting nationalizing banks), TARP, the auto bailouts, nationalized health care, partial birth abortion, and now his use of veterans as props. But this takes the cake - he set up a new website to solicit donations for United States veterans. That sounds nice, doesn’t it? The only problem, the donations people make through that website go to Trump’s personal foundation.

“Honor their valor,” the website, donaldtrumpforvets.com, states. “Donate now to help our Veterans.”

The website, which is nothing more than a single page with stock photosand a credit card donation form, claims that “100% of your donations will go directly to Veterans needs.”

There’s only one problem: 100% of the money raised on the site goes directly to Donald Trump’s personal non-profit foundation, according to a disclosure listed at the bottom of the page.

“The Donald J Trump Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization,” the disclosure reads. “An email confirmation with a summary of your donation will be sent to the email address provided above.”

Read the whole thing for a history of the Donald J Trump Foundation’s history of giving. The Clinton Foundation has received much, much more from the Trump Foundation than any veterans’ groups. And his spokesperson today couldn’t even name one veteran group that is benefiting from or participating in the veterans event he is hosting tonight instead of participating in the debate. But I’m sure Trump’s supporters will find an excuse for this, like they do with everything else, and then hurl insults at everyone who doesn’t buy the BS.
