All of this outrage over a few Christians who don’t want to cater or photograph gay weddings is getting completely out of control. This morning Tammy Bruce compared gay liberals to fascists, and she’s right. A woman who owns a pizza shop in Indiana said she wouldn’t want to cater a gay wedding, and now she’s had to close up shop due to all of the threats and harassment. (On a positive note, people who believe in religious freedom have generously opened their wallets to help her out.)
Where do you even start with all of this? Who has their wedding catered by a small town pizza shop, anyway? I’ve been to quite a few weddings and I don’t recall one where pizza was served.
The bigger question is, why would a gay couple want to have “bigots” involved in their wedding at all? (I put the word bigots in quotes because that’s what the left is now calling people who believe that by catering, photographing or otherwise providing services in a gay wedding they are participating in, or profiting off of sin.) Their wedding day is one of the biggest days of their lives, so why would they want people there who aren’t going to share in their joy?
Why not just let the free market work? I’m sure for every Christian caterer that is uncomfortable catering a gay wedding there are ten caterers who are happy to have the business. The same goes for florists, bakers and photographers. Why do liberal gays want to ruin the lives of people with whom they disagree? What reason could there, other than the most obvious?
“If there’s anyone in the world who should understand the vulnerability of being a minority, of being somebody that maybe others don’t understand or relate to, the vulnerability about work and jobs, being able to live your life as you see fit, it’s the gay community,” [Tammy] Bruce said.
“For me to turn around in the 21st century and see that this [fascism] is what we were fighting for, so we could condemn people who are different, and with whom we disagree is the antithesis of what every civil rights movement was about.”
Maybe Christians who don’t want to cater gay weddings should stop bringing up their religion and just say they don’t work for assholes. Or is that a crime now, too?

You know, gay rights stop at the point where they infringe on MY rights. For truly fundamental Christians, there is no way aroud the fact that the bible says is it an abomination before the Lord. If they truly believe that, if it is fundamentally a part of who they are-just as a beard is to a Muslim-then they should not be forced between becoming part of something with which they disagree or making a living. I don’t recall any Christian baker, florist, photographer, or DJ going out of their way to OBTAIN and then REJECT gay business. We know what this is really about-tolerance is not enough, the agenda is to FORCE ACCEPTANCE. That never works. I have no dog in the fight, but would absolutely come to the defense of a small business being targeted for destruction because they declined a contracted job. This does not win any friends, favors, or acceptance for the gay community at all.

…aannnnndddd that fire is still raging out of control as one of the top news stories—protests, boycotts, blah blah. For Pete’s sake! “You can be gay all day long but I don’t have to make you a cupcake!!” pfffttttt.

Does it occur to you that the liberal mentality is derived from the social organism we call ‘high school’? Productive adults engaging in voluntary transactions with each other, governing their own households, and participating in civic life is not how they understand the larger society. Instead, we’re all under the tutelage of the school administration (the appellate judiciary and, yes, school administrations); people’s authority over their children is properly understood as being subject to the tutelage of the social work apparat, the school administration, the mental health trade and the judiciary; people are not understood as adults trading goods and seqrvices because adolescents produce little, judges and school administrators receive an administered wage, and lawyers are massive rent-seekers; and, of course, elected officials are just the student council. The administration and the faculty run the school.

if anyone is fanatically devoted and intolerant of anyone else, it is the LGBT crowd - who issue death threats, trash churches, etc etc etc.
Since when is it ‘bigotry’ to stand against obnoxious creeps ? Who is responsible for 55000 new cases of AIDS ?
And what has RFRA got to do with bigotry anyway ? It has nothing to do with it.
They are just playing with words, as usual.

If this is the way it is, caterers, etc should just provide the bastards with a crappy product and/or service, get paid. It’s a win-win. Just get the money first.
