Harry Reid thought it would be a good idea to tell racist jokes at an Asian Chamber of Commerce dinner. The jokes weren’t even funny, but he let loose anyway.
“I don’t think you’re smarter than anybody else, but you’ve convinced a lot of us you are,” Reid, a Nevada Democrat, told the guffawing crowd at the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce. Video of the remarks was recorded by the Republican opposition research group American Rising.
Later, before walking off stage, Reid quipped: “One problem that I’ve had today is keeping my Wongs straight.”
I don’t know if it was the racist jokes, or some other reason, but the group apparently wasn’t too impressed with him, at least not enough to back his candidate.
The group chose to back Republican Mark Hutchison for Lieutenant Governor instead of Reid’s candidate, Lucy Flores, even though he apologized later…
This isn’t the first time Reid has made racist comments, and it probably won’t be the last. He keeps doing it because he’s a Democrat so he gets away with it.
