Midland University president Ben Sasse won the Republican primary for US Senate in Nebraska. Senate Conservatives Fund president Matt Hoskins issued a statement lauding Sasse’s conservative principles.
“Ben Sasse won this race because he never stopped fighting for conservative principles,” said SCF Executive Director Matt Hoskins. “Ben Sasse will lead the fight to repeal Obamacare and enact reforms that give patients greater control over their own health care decisions. He will fight to stop wasteful taxpayer spending and balance the budget.”
The SCF has spent a total of $1.1 million on the race, which looks to be an easy win for the Republican. Slate’s Dave Weigel predicts Sasse will be the next Ted Cruz, as if that’s a bad thing.
The NRSC also congratulated Sasse in a statement from Chairman Jerry Moran.
“Congratulations to Ben Sasse on his victory tonight in Nebraska. Ben is a problem solver who will be a conservative voice in our effort to repeal ObamaCare and bring much needed fiscal sanity to the Senate.
“Ben Sasse is a results-oriented leader whom I know will fight for Nebraska and be a great advocate for the Cornhusker State in the Senate. I look forward to working alongside of Ben in the Senate next year in a Republican majority.”
