The lawlessness of President Obama and his administration officials is no secret. Remember when they were held in contempt for flagrantly disobeying the court and the law over the drilling moratorium? Eric Holder has been in contempt of Congress and he perjures himself regularly. Administration officials routinely fail to enforce laws they don’t like, and on Obamacare they’ve practically rewritten the law without any input from Congress.
On Tuesday, Michael Cannon, Cato Institute’s Director of Health Policy Studies, testified before a congressional committee about the dangers of the president’s legal behavior.
“There is one last thing to which the people can resort if the government does not respect the restrains that the constitution places on the government,” Cannon said. “Abraham Lincoln talked about our right to alter our government or our revolutionary right to overthrow it.”
“That is certainly something that no one wants to contemplate,” he continued. “If the people come to believe that the government is no longer constrained by the laws then they will conclude that neither are they.” (Read More)
There’s already a segment of society that doesn’t feel constrained by laws, which is bad enough. Senate Democrats pretty much telling half the country to go to hell with their “nuclear option” doesn’t help matters. Hopefully in 2014 we can take control of the Senate out of the Democrats’ hands and then have at least a fighting chance of putting a check on this corrupt and lawless administration.
