Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta testified today that during the September 11, 2012 attack on our consulate in Benghazi he did not speak to President Obama, or anyone else in the White House. He did have a 5:00 PM meeting that had been scheduled ahead of time, but that was it. Nobody called him later to find out what was going on.
Here’s the video.
Hillary Clinton was also unavailable that night, according to testimony from Panetta and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey.
“In between 9:42 p.m., Benghazi time, when the first attacks started, and 5:15 am, when Mr. Doherty and Mr. Woods lost their lives, what converations did either of you have with Secretary Clinton?”
“We did not have any conversations with Secretary Clinton,” Panetta responded.
“And General Dempsey, the same is true for you?” Cruz asked. Dempsey confirmed this.
You can watch that video at The Weekly Standard.
Oh, and that’s not all we found out today. General Dempsey also testified that the State Department never requested support for security in Benghazi. He said he was aware of the security situation, but was not able to send in any support without such a request.
Good grief, what was Hillary doing? What was Obama doing? Oh wait, I forgot, what difference does it make?
