NY Teachers Union Suing State Over Property Tax Cap

One of the few things New York Governor Andrew Cuomo did right was to sign a law capping property taxes in the state. It didn’t go far enough in providing tax relief, since property taxes can still be raised above the “cap” under certain circumstances. But the teachers unions were still against it, and now they’re suing the state because they want no limits on property taxes.

The state’s largest teachers union filed suit this morning against New York over the state’s tax cap.

The New York State United Teachers lawsuit says the tax cap is unconstitutional and increases inequality among school districts. …

But of course they will say it’s all “about the children.” Yeah right. New York has some of the highest property taxes in the country, but it’s never enough for these people.
