Gunman Opened Fire at Office of the Conservative Group Family Research Council – Updated

Something tells me we won’t hear much outrage from the left over the shooting of a security guard at the office of the conservative group Family Research council. According to news reports, a man walked in the building and when he was approached by a guard he opened fire. Thankfully, other guards were able to detain the man before he could hurt anyone else.

A security guard at the conservative Family Research Council was shot Wednesday morning in the building’s lobby in downtown Washington.

A man walked into the lobby at about 10:45 a.m. and was confronted by the security guard as per the organization’s policy, D.C. police Chief Cathy Lanier said. The man opened fire, and the guard was hit in the arm before he and other security guards tackled the shooter,” Lanier said.

“As far as I’m concerned, the security officer here is a hero,” Lanier said. “The persona never made it past him.”

A suspect was taken into custody, and the man was uninjured, Lanier said.

The guard who was shot was conscious and breathing when he was taken to a hospital, and authorities could not immediately say whether the guard had been armed.

Here’s a video report via WJLA.

Update: According to Fox News, the gunman said something about the FRC’s policies before opening fire. Also, they are reporting on air that the security guard who was injured is named Leo Johnson, (see update below) and that the guard’s actions “saved the day.” The shooter posed as an intern, and no charges have been filed yet.

Update: Twitchy has reactions from the left, as well as the cross hairs they put the FRC in not too long ago. I won’t hold my breath waiting for President Obama to denounce such incivility.

Update: According to Life News, the gunman is a 28-year-old from Virginia named Floyd Corkins, who has volunteered for leftist organizations.
