Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day Was a Big Success

A good friend of mine who lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA sent me a text this afternoon saying she took the kids to Chick-fil-A for lunch. She said the line was long but it moved quickly and that their lunch was delicious. Smitty also took a little time out of his busy day to stop in for a bite to eat. It sounds like that’s how today has gone all around the country. (Unfortunately for me, the closest Chick-fil-A is over 100 miles away, so we’ll have to put off our appreciation day.)

This is what the line outside a Chicago area Chick-fil-A looked like, via WLSAM (h/t Ellie):

Here’s a Fox News video report from earlier today in Atlanta. Over 600,000 supporters signed up to participate today. On Friday gay marriage supporters are planning a Chick-fil-A “kiss-in.” How much do you want to bet the turnout will be nowhere close to what it was today?

Look at this crowd outside a Chick-fil-A in Indiana.

As a side note, I’m sure that Michelle Obama disapproves of this show of support for Chick-fil-A, regardless of the gay marriage issue. As for all of the democrat mayors trying to kick the restaurant out of their cities, I guess they’ll just have to wait until they’re hit with law suits. What part of the First Amendment don’t they understand?

Update: The day was such a success that there was a bomb threat at a West Virginia Chick-fil-A. What the heck is wrong with these people?

Update 2: CNS News has more video on the Chick-fil-A crowds.

Update 3: Look at the crowd in Irvine California. Amazing!

Update 4: The Daley Gator linked. I read part of his post and was about to rush out the door and head to the Wendy’s drive-thru, but then I read the rest. Looks like I’ll be sticking to my diet tonight. Too bad, I was hungry and so were the kids. We had some soup instead.

Update 5: Shep Smith wasn’t impressed with the Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. Why I am not surprised? For those of you who were wondering, he has not one but two hour long “news” shows on Fox News. You know – that “right wing” news organization.

Update 6: Scared Monkeys linked – thanks!

Update 7: (Thursday 8/2/12) I had to change the title. The day doesn’t just appear to have been a success, it was. The company’s owner said they broke a world record with sales yesterday.
