Concerned Veterans for America released this video asking what freedom means to you. It’s a good question, and I wonder how many of us really think about the sacrifices that have been made on our behalf by our fighting forces. From their You Tube page:
Veterans understand that they must bring that knowledge and that perspective to bear in a much wider fight, one that will require a commitment, focus, and sustained effort unlike any seen previously. They must carry with on the same mission they accepted while in uniform — defending freedom.
I’m proud to tell you that I will be participating in Troopathon again this year. It’s an effort to send care packages to our troops serving overseas, far from the comforts of home. I’m on the Hot Air Steamers team again, and if you would like to donate to send a little love from home to our troops please use this link, since it’s a competition. Whichever team raises the most money wins. But the real winners are the troops in harm’s way. We bloggers don’t win a thing, other than knowing we helped raise some money for a good cause.
Speaking of bloggers, we may not be out there on the front lines in the Middle East, and we certainly can’t compare ourselves to guys like Caesar Rodney, but we’re out here every day fighting for our freedoms with our keyboards. Some would like to shut us up. But the last time I checked, we’re still free to blog. I don’t care what anyone says or does, I won’t shut up. Well, except for when my crummy computer freezes up like it did tonight after my son’s team won another All Stars game.
