Had the management of Sears decided to be brave and continue advertising on Rush Limbaugh’s show, I would have driven to my local Sears and KMart stores and bought something just as a way of showing my appreciation. Now I won’t. I won’t shop at either store, ever again. It’s no great loss, I never did like either store very much.
I also won’t consider buying insurance from AllState, flowers from ProFlowers, legal products from Legal Zoom, or do business with any of the advertisers who caved in to the left. I’ve had enough, thank you.
Oh, and by the way, Carbonite’s stock dropped to a 52-week low after pulling their ads from the show. Da TechGuy thinks they should try to find a backup of their old business model, since the new one isn’t working so well. Heh!
Update: This post has been corrected. It originally indicated 1-800-flowers dropped advertising, but it was ProFlowers. My apologies for the mistake.
Update 2: Maggie’s Notebook has the complete list of sponsors who dumped Rush, there are a total of twenty (regional and national), at least at the time she went to post.
You know what’s ironic? Normally while I’m in the car listening to talk radio, when Rush goes to commercial I switch over to Sirius. It’s pretty easy to time the commercial breaks. Today I stayed tuned in just out of curiosity to see if he still had advertisers. He did, and I listened for a change.
Update 3: Lady Liberty linked - thanks. Oh, and you can add JC Penney to the list. I won’t be shopping there anymore.
This is really choice that they scorn Rush for calling someone a “slut” and a “prostitute”. I’ve heard worse on some sitcoms.
From the Mediaite link:
In addition, AOL also renounced its corporate partnership with Limbaugh.
“At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity,” AOL wrote to its customers. “We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh’s comments are not in line with our values.”
Really now. Why is it that if you go to the AOL home page and type in “porn”, their search engine will happily fulfill your request? I guess that meets their values.
The hypocrisy is just a bit too much. I wonder if it has anything to do with their corporate partnership with HuffPo? Humm?
If I were Rush, I’d vet every advertiser then make a determination of where they’d fall on a two scale rate sheet.

LC, want to make a point and have some real fun?? Go to Sears, get yourself a BIG shopping cart and fill it with lots of their high dollar value items. Go to the register, let them ring it up…then “remember”, hey you guys are Sears, the guys who chickened out on Rush. No I have decided to back out from making this purchase. You can keep your stuff and cram it! See if you can get a friend to lure the manager to be in that area when you do, as the poor teller will just have to put everything back anyway. It’s better when the stores know that people are making a point of not shopping with them!

Ha-ha, Mark! Better yet, I think they still have an unconditional return policy. Like you said, buy a bunch of big ticket items, use them for the weekend and then return them. Don’t beat the stuff up, just use it and tell them it didn’t meet your expectations.

I just googled ‘sandra fluke sex change’ and came up with a list. So she wants us to pay for sex change operations too. I suggest that she get a BRAIN CHANGE OPERATION. A two-bit microprocessor should suffice. It would double her IQ. So it looks like Rush was wrong. She is not a slut. She is not a whore. She is an A**HOLE. Furthermore, I want her contraceptives and operations TAXED at the SAME RATE AS TOBACCO. A SIN TAX - get it !

As far as I am concerned the people caving to this are basically saying, “Hey, I don’t believe in free speech.”

Will you post a name, any name so I can respect you more while writing? I hope you will read all I want to say to you and then others. If you just were not thinking it is not necessary to give yourself a name, I get it. I think because, you voiced your opinion that you deserve to be called by a respectable name. R.B.decided intentionally and premeditated his actions and words. R.B so believed in his words that he willing decided not to apologized. He refused. Oddly enough it was not until he lost about 6-9 sponsors that he unwilling apologized. RB only spoke meaningless words he wrote and joked on his apology. We have no right to physically abuse him. What does happen is “Boycotting”. Rush is known to verbally abuse people. As people we can respond with Boycotts. The Word Boycott exist. It is an acceptable approach esp. R.B. Plz know the Sponsors/Companys careful with time considered the decision to cancel with R.B. They did not make a knee jerk decision. R.B. did and he is now paying for it. While I do not know what your experience is in life would you be interested in sharing our opinions on this site? We and others may learn from each other and express changes on this site. I think these sites can help us to understand each other rather than only a comment. You wanted others to know what you think. You got my attention and you deserve to be heard. I hope to hear from you. At minimum you, me and all people have the God given right to ask for something without being called names. That is the reason are forefathers create the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Our laws do not allow us to physical harm a person when we are called names. People are put in jail, etc. for that. The moral laws we live with help us to think before we speak and resulting in hurting others. I pray to God that you have been able to ask for something without being called filthy rotten names. Truly, Liz

“Rush is known to verbally abuse people.”
That’s an abusive and defamatory statement in itself unless you can back it up with some fact.

I just read an e-mail from Human Events, I believe, regarding liberal talk radio host, Mike Malloy. I live in southern Indiana near the devastation from the tornadoes last Friday afternoon. You see, Mr. Malloy on his radio show made fun of the victims from those tornadoes…..that “their God” simply smeared them as grease over the roads. Where is the outcry and anger on something like this when so many have lost family and friends and their homes? Why isn’t there a call to boycott this despicable worthless piece of nothing and his radio show and crucify him? Oh, that’s right….it is a one way street. Lord have mercy on his soul…..if he has one.

The FDA considers two products bioequivalent if the 90% CI of the relative mean Cmax, AUC(0-t) and AUC(0-∞) of the test (e.g. generic formulation) to reference (e.g. innovator brand formulation) should be within 80.00% to 125.00% in the fasting state. Although there are a few exceptions, generally a bioequivalent comparison of Test to Reference formulations also requires administration after an appropriate meal at a specified time before taking the drug, a so-called “fed” or “food-effect” study. A food-effect study requires the same statistical evaluation as the fasting study, described above.
Stick with the “Brand” product, Liz.

I was already boycotting Sears over credit card practices that cost me money a few years back. Told them that as long as Citibank was running their credit card, I wasn’t shopping their. Canceled my card.
Wish I could re-boycott over this one {sigh}.
I WILL, however, be moving to a different insurer when my policy comes up for renewal soon. And I WILL be letting them know, in two words (“Rush Limbaugh”), why I am moving on.
I hope this really hurts the companies that have pulled this maneuver.

Actually you can cancel your insurance at any time the insurance company will reimburse you for the remaining balance on your account. I just think making a timely statement is more effective than a postscript one.

The Fluke insanity is making people stupid! This is an emotional reply to a staged event!
It still will not effect my vote in November!
It’s ok to bash anyone buy a Team Obama player!
See: It’s controversial only when a conservative says it!

Joesph, if Obama cured all cancers, brought peace through out all of the middle east, got gas down to $.50 a gallon, unemployment to 2%, and even went hunting with Sarah Palin, it still wouldn’t effect your vote in Nov. You and I know this.
But back to reality. If you haven’t noticed, close to 40 sponsors haven now dropped the almighty Rush. Call it what you like but when people of mass numbers are contradicting you, it’s within the realm of rational thinking to deduce that those contradictions have merit. As the popular saying goes these days, “just saying”.
And back to the adages that my Grandparents use to use. There was something about when you find yourself in a hole, quit digging. That shovel seems to just cling to your hands doesn’t it?
