The big story of the day is Donald Trump’s announcement that he will not seek the Republican nomination to run for president in 2012. I can’t say I’m surprised, I just thought he’d milk it a little longer. But, there was a deadline looming to renew his contract with NBC, and business is his greatest passion.
“I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election,” Trump said in a statement on Monday. “I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.”
Gateway Pundit thinks he’d make a good secretary of state. I don’t know about that, I’m just glad he’s not running. As Michelle Malkin reminds us, Trump’s no conservative. But I do hope he continues to vehemently denounce President Obama’s disastrous policies. I’m sure he will if he thinks it will help his ratings.
