The Elephant is Still in the Room, and Being Ignored

I have the local news on, and Governor Cuomo’s budget proposal is still big news. But the elephant in the room continues to be ignored.

The news person talked to a local school official, and it was noted that teacher pension payments increased 11% this year. Yet nobody mentioned pension reform, union reform, or becoming a right to work state. It was just stated as a simple fact: teacher pension costs are rising, and the state is cutting the budget. But again, nothing about the real solution.

It’s maddening! They’re all so afraid of the unions, they’re willing to let this state fall. I had such hopes, for a brief moment. It’s not about the kids. It’s never been about the kids. Nothing has changed in New York.
