There is No Shift to the Center

Here’s something else I missed last week which is kind of important. (Sorry.)

We keep hearing about this great shift to the center underway by President Obama. The renomination of Dr. Donald Berwick is a pretty good indication that the president is firmly planted in the far left and has no intention of ceding any ideological ground.

The White House announced its slate of appointments for open positions that require Senate confirmation, including two controversial recess appointments, one of which produced bipartisan anger when it was made.  Donald Berwick, who got a recess appointment to run Medicare before the Senate could even hold a confirmation hearing, will be headed for the Senate once again….

He also renominated Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board.

Also, be sure to check out the post at Conservative Hideout detailing what’s so objectionable about Berwick, including how he pined for the British health care model to be implemented here in the US.

See here and here for information on Craig Becker, and here for what the NLRB has been up to under Becker’s direction.

Once a statist, always a statist.

Oh, and while we’re on the subject of healthcare, be sure to read Professor Jacobson’s piece on the price of Obama’s obsession with Obamacare. (Via Instapundit)
