ATR and AWF demand inquiry into illegal lobbying by SEIU’s Andy Stern

By Lonely Conservative

Hot Air had the exclusive this morning. Being a communist isn’t illegal, but acting in the capacity of a lobbyist without registering as a lobbyist is.

At 9 am ET today, Americans for Tax Reform and the Alliance for Worker Freedom will deliver a letter to both chambers of Congress and to  US Attorney Channing Phillips in Washington DC, demanding a federal investigation of Andrew Stern, president of the SEIU.  They will claim that Stern, who stopped registering as a federal lobbyist in 2007, has continued his lobbying efforts.  They claim to have compiled evidence of Stern’s lobbying from the recently released White House visitor logs, media reports — and Stern’s own Twitter feed, in what has to be a first for the social networking service.

In a Hot Air exclusive, here is an excerpt of the letter: …

The evidence against Stern is pretty damning and he’s clearly breaking the law. He was even dumb enough to post his illegal lobbying efforts on Twitter. What a twit.

Whether either chamber of Congress or the US Attorney will act on the evidence remains to be seen. I won’t hold my breath.

Thank you for helping shine the light on this controversy, and mentioning ATR’s and AWF’s call for an investigation. Hopefully, this request will be granted.
