Friday Evening News Round Up

By Lonely Conservative

By now you’ve heard of AG Eric Holder’s decision to try Kaleid Sheik Mohammad and four other terrorists in New York City. That news set my mood for the day. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard much since to lift my spirits. (Thank God I’m a naturally happy, positive person or I’d probably need medication.)

The AP reported that troop morale in Afghanistan is way down. What a shame – those guys are over there fighting for their lives while the president flies around the world. I hope they know how many of us here at home keep them in our prayers.

The world gold supply is drying up, and the price of gold continues to climb. That’s good news for gold investors, but it’s fueled by the weak dollar. Thanks to the weak dollar the price of oil is up. The reason the dollar is so weak is our exorbitant national debt. Keep that in mind when you start feeling the pain at the pump.

White House Counsel Craig resigned from his post. He’ll be replaced by Bob Bauer, who Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) believes was hired to erase Obama’s ties to ACORN. Louisiana’s attorney general raided ACORN’s national headquarters and seized their records the other day. King believes those records contain a trail leading to the White House. I’m not sure how this will effect ACORN’s lawsuit to have Congress restore their funding. If the Obama administration will be defending the case I doubt it will matter. They’ll fold and ACORN will get all their funding back.

A couple of EPA employees released a YouTube video earlier this year criticizing the cap and trade scheme the democrats like to impose on us. They weren’t denying there’s global warming, only that the democrats proposals are wrong. Rather than listen to them, the EPA forced them to take down the video and they’ve been reassigned. Interestingly, one of them said he never was told to shut up while working under the Bush administration.

Speaking of cap and trade – the Brits’ want to take it to a whole new level. There’s a proposal to monitor individual carbon usage. One Brit described the idea as Orwellian. I’ll say. It shouldn’t be long before one of the statists in congress borrows the idea to impose on us here at home.

Now for some good news!

For the first time, more Americans believe providing health care is not the federal government’s responsibility. There’s hope for us yet!

The Employment Policies Institute is pumping 10 million smackeroos into defeating ObamaCare. Every little bit will help keep people with hospitalization plans from losing their coverage.

Scientists have found water on the moon. Maybe there will be somewhere to go when this “One World Government” kicks in.
