Video: George W. Bush Speaks About Life After the White House
ByFormer President George W. Bush spoke today and the speech was aired live, which would make this the first speech he’s given with live coverage since he left office in January. He talked about his daughters and how he and Laura are happy and healthy and glad to be home in Texas. He also talked about the George W. Bush Presidential Library and the Bush Institute.
George W. Bush is a good and decent man. He didn’t get everything right, but what human being does? Contrary to popular belief, he didn’t lead as an ideologue. He’s a man of principle who did his best and did what he believed was right. Not right vs. left, but right vs. wrong.
I came across an essay written by a gay Hillary Clinton supporter from Chicago. I’m heartened to realize that not all liberals are rabid and full of hate. The man who wrote it didn’t vote for President Bush, but he’s still able to appreciate and thank President Bush for his service and keeping us safe. He reminded me of talking to two of my friends on the evening of 9/11. We were still shocked. My friends told me they had voted for Al Gore, but were so glad Al Gore was not our president. From 9/11/01 until 1/20/09 I had no reason to believe our president didn’t understand what was at stake in the war on terror. His resolve and his love of country and humanity made it easy to forgive some of the shortcomings.
Speaking of those shortcomings, President Bush addressed the bailouts at about 17:00 i to the video. The lovely Laura Bush spoke at the end, only to be rudely cut off by Shepard Smith.
I don’t know, I’m happy to see the Bush’s enjoying life and going about their philanthropic work. I just don’t like thinking of the way he was treated. Being the decent man that he is, he never called anyone out. I don’t know if I can think of a time he publicly expressed any real anger toward his critics. You’d think he caused Hurricane Katrina the way it was spun by the media and the left, all the while Mayor Nagin and that useless governor were let off the hook. He was criticized for all the wrong things. Go figure.
So here it is, video of Mr. Bush’s speech earlier today. It was a fine speech given by a decent man. I guess I’m just pining for a president who loves our country.

i agree that bush is a decent man. but the GOP cannot continue to accept mistakes like the ones he made. he did some good things as president, but in many ways he was an economic disaster. we can’t just ignore that because he’s a good man and took a lot of crap from the left. with the house and senate controlled by the GOP for a decent portion of his presidency, he failed to deliver on many fronts, and actually steered the country towards the left in some areas. the bottom line is that the government was much bigger and had much more power over individuals after bush’s 8 years.
