NY23 Update: Debate, NRCC says Hoffman will be welcome to Caucus with GOP, Local Papers Endorsements
ByIt was no surprise this morning when I read the Syracuse Post Standard’s endorsement of Bill Owens. They have hope and change fever and the only thing to cure it will be massive spending a la cap and tax and a government take over of health care. The Watertown Daily Times endorsed Scozzafava. (What a waste of ink.)
Owens, Hoffman and Scozzafava’s debate aired earlier this evening on News Channel 9. I watched it from a hospital room. Since I can’t read lips I couldn’t tell what they were saying, but I watched it online when I got home. In the first segment I think I heard Dede call Dan Cummings, the moderator, “Jim.”
It was about what you would expect. A lot of time was spent on the amount of money from outside the district the candidates have received. Sigh – I don’t recall anyone asking Dan Maffei about that last year.
They also aired this interview of Doug Hoffman after the debate.
Via Allahpundit, the head of the NRCC appears to have given up on Scozzafava and will welcome Doug Hoffman to caucus with Republicans should he win the election. He’s definitely got a good chance of winning. A Kos poll has him trailing Owens by a point, well within the margin of error. Other polls have Hoffman ahead. He also picked up the endorsement of Texas Governor Rick Perry!

Dan – thanks for the link on your post. I’ll post Pataki’s endorsement later today. I went to bed early for a change last night and I have to leave now for work.
