I blogged about this two weeks ago. Now people are starting to take notice. Here’s what I wrote on June 12.

Yes, you read that right. When democrats floated the idea of taxing employer sponsored health care benefits the unions howled, as they have better health care benefits than just about anyone but politicians. Kimberly Strassel calls it a union payoff. That sounds about right.

Via Gateway Pundit

At the White House luau President Obama had the pleasure of dunking Rahm Emanuel. He obviously didn’t spend much time as a kid playing catch. My gosh, my four year old has a better pitch than this guy. Heck, so do I!

I guess plotting to socialize a nation and remove any last shred of freedom was really time consuming for the young Barry.

Maybe we should call him Senator Inhope.

Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe has been leading the charge against global warming alarmists for years. He sat down for an interview with the Countrywide and Sun to discuss the Crap and Tax (started as a typo but has a nice ring to it, no?) bill that passed the House late last night. He said it’s dead on arrival.

“It doesn’t matter,” he declared flatly, “because we’ll kill it in the Senate anyway.”

Asked if he was confident that would be the case, Oklahoma’s senior senator said he was “absolutely certain.” He noted that it would take 60 votes to break an anticipated Republican filibuster over cap and trade and predicted the most the Democrats can muster is about 34.

He said all the hubbub in the House was over Pelosi’s desire to attend a conference in Copenhagen and be able to stand up and say, “Oh, we’ve passed this out of the House and we’re going to lead the way in America but it’s not going to pass the Senate.”

Inhofe said the bill, if passed, would constitute the largest tax increase in the history of the country.

He scoffed at Democratic claims that “cap and trade” doesn’t represent a tax increase at all but instead is a free enterprise solution.

I guess it all depends on how well Senate Democrats hold up under the pressure of Obama administration thugs who will no doubt stop at nothing to get this legislation passed.

Either way, Senator Inhofe has been a real champion on this issues for years, for that he deserves our appreciation and gratitude.

The Health Care Shake Down

Posted by: Lonely Conservative | Comments (0)

The thugs had their way with the United States House of Representatives in order to ram through the biggest tax hike in American history. The energy bill will move on to the Senate, though technically there is no bill. We’ll have to wait and see what arm twisting happens in the Senate.

In the mean time, Politico reports that the democrats have been busy shaking down health groups in an effort to destroy the American health care industry and bring us even more tax increases.

The Senate Finance Committee is pressuring hospitals and insurers to follow the lead of the pharmaceutical industry and pony up to help pay for health reform, industry insiders say.

With the Democrats’ high-stakes gambit to overhaul the nation’s health care system coming with an eye-popping price tag of $1 trillion over 10 years, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) has been tasked with finding that money — and has been privately reminding six major health groups of their pledge to President Barack Obama to find $2 trillion in savings over the next 10 years.

“Sen. Baucus believes that these industries have a lot to gain by health care reform. They have 46 million new customers coming their way, and they have a responsibility to participate in getting that done,” said Erin Shields, the Montana senator’s spokeswoman.

Some in the industry, though, take a darker view of the chairman’s motives.

“They are shaking people down, and it’s fair to say that includes a broad range of health care stakeholders,” said a health care industry insider, who asked for anonymity to speak candidly without fear of retribution. “They’re playing hardball, and they’re serious about it.”

John Boehner blasted the democrats in his weekly radio address this week. Video and text below.

House Minority Leader John Boehner did his best last night to stop the Waxman Markey bill, which nobody read, from passing the House. Many thanks to Rep. Boehner for his efforts. H/T Newsbusters.

This bill is downright scary. Climate Depot describes the methods of the Pelosi led House as “nothing more than unrestrained exercise of raw political power and arm-twisting, intimidation and special interest handouts.” How right they are. The thugs are already going after a few brave democrats who voted against this mess. Our nation is now led by a fascist thugocracy. Next up healthcare.

Way to go Fox News

Posted by: Lonely Conservative | Comments (1)

Leading up to the House vote on the biggest tax increase in American history, Fox News decided to stop reporting the news so they could provide non stop Michael Jackson coverage. It wasn’t coverage, after reporting his death what was there to cover?  What a disgrace! Here’s their reward via Drudge:

CABLE NEWS RACE
JUNE 25, 2009

CNN 8PM 4,046,000
CNN 7PM 3,916,000
CNN 9PM 3,913,000
CNN 10PM 3,681,000
FOXNEWS 8PM 3,423,000
FOXNEWS 7PM 3,379,000
CNN 6PM 3,098,000
FOXNEWS 9 PM 2,872,000
FOXNEWS 6PM 2,816,000
FOXNEWS 10PM 2,266,000
MSNBC 8PM 1,916,000
MSNBC 9M 1,540,000

Frankly, they shouldn’t have been in second place. The viewers they did have were probably people like me, checking in to see if they would go back to reporting news, only to turn it off in disgust.

Oh, guess what! 2:34 PM Saturday afternoon and Fox News is talking about – drumroll please – Michael Jackson!

Sorry, no Saturday funnies

Posted by: Lonely Conservative | Comments (8)

Sorry folks. Most of you who regularly read my blog know I usually have Saturday funnies. Tonight I’m just not in the mood. There’s nothing funny at all about what is happening in America today. The saddest thing is, most of our fellow Americans are willfully ignorant. I say willfully because the information is there. It’s easy to find. I blog about it non-stop every day, to the point where I worry about my health because I’m so sleep deprived. Yet people I know who tell me they are on our side had no idea what the House voted on yesterday. One hundred people at a party and nobody seemed to know or care what’s happening. I’m not saying people should do what I do and devote every spare  moment to keep up with the unconstitutional actions of our government. But the least they could do is be informed. And they are not. And that makes me sad and disappointed.

Sorry to be a downer. But someone has to be.

My husband and I went to a party tonight. We had a great time. I would have had a better time if I didn’t check twitter and find out Cap and Tax made it through the House, with the help of eight RINO’s. Almost more distressing for me was that when I quietly spoke to the few people I know are on ”our side”, none of them had any clue what this bill was or that it was up for a vote today. Doing the limbo was fun, but thinking “how low can you go” had a much different meaning for me than it did my fellow partiers.

This is how low the Republican party went today. Despite the valiant effort by John Boehner, eight turncoat Republicans voted to pass the largest tax increase in history, while at the same time destroying our republican form of government. What a heartbreak.

The turncoats must be purged! Voted out! If the democrats are going to destroy our great country we may as well make them own it. There is no excuse. There can be no forgiveness. These eight must go!

Michelle Malkin posted the names and phone numbers of the eight turncoats.

Bono Mack (CA) (202) 225-5330
Castle (DE) (202) 225-4165
Kirk (IL) (202) 225-4385 (And he’s seriously considering running for Senate!)
Lance (NJ) (202) 225-5361
LoBiondo (NJ) (202) 225-6572
McHugh (NY) (202) 225-4611
Reichert (WA) (202) 225-7761
Smith (NJ) (202) 225-3765

(Phone numbers h/t commenter rightwingmom)

Congrats, congresspeople, you helped the Democrats pass a junk science-based, massive national energy tax. Headed to Disney World now?

She also posted the names of the 44 democrats who voted against this monstrous bill. My congressman, Dan Maffei, is not on the list, despite the story he gave to the Post Standard about his reservations in voting for the bill. I knew it was a line of BS when I read it. Wake up Central New York! Dan Maffei again proved he’s nothing more than a puppet for Pelosi and Obama. Is that what you voted for?

And a little note to my fellow Americans: You may want to take just a few minutes a day to find out what your “elected representatives” are up to. If you don’t take the damn time to be informed, when you’ve lost all your freedoms you’ll have nobody to blame but yourselves!

Update: Below are clips of John Boehner and Michele Bachmann doing their best to stop this travesty.
