The Cairo Speech
By Lonely ConservativeThis morning President Obama delivered his much touted speech to the Muslim world. I missed it, but I’ve heard quite a few clips. It sounds like it could have been worse, but a few things jumped out at me. Like the line “Any world order that elevates one nation over another will fail.” What’s that supposed to mean? Did some sort of “world order” elevate the United States to its standing in the world - or was it freedom, liberty and our Judeo-Christian values?
The president also talked about bringing solar and wind power to the Middle East. Last time I checked they had plenty of oil. And who will pay for that solar and wind power? We can’t, we’re broke – remember? Speaking of being broke, how are we going to fund these scholarship programs he’s promising? Or bring instant messaging to children in Cairo? Not that there’s anything wrong with education, energy and technology. I just don’t believe bribery is the best way to win hearts and minds.
As expected there’s been quite a response to the President’s speech. Michelle Malkin wasn’t impressed. Ed Morrissey was pleasantly surprised. Yid with Lid thinks he sold out Israel. Peter Daou at the Huffington Post was disappointed.

And there is much that many people missed, being simply disinterested in history and facts. Of course, Team Obama believes (like Goebbels) if you just repeat a thing enough times it will become true.
What I saw & heard was American groveling, pleas to like us more and understand us better now that we are willing to publicly express “humility”—and Israel being offered up. Rahm Emmanuel has made it clear to leaders in Israel that “there will be a two state solution by the end of Obama’s first (!) term, it really does not matter to us who the Prime Minister is”– so get on board. And by the way, we’ll help with that Iran thing if you capitulate on all these other things that are not in your best interests.
I was literally nauseated by what I heard and the way it was offered. Now, I only feverishly hope that all of those idealists who handed power to these people reconsider what they have done and make some changes as early as next year. I know for a fact that will happen in some areas of my local Jewish community. They have suddenly understood that what Team Obama says (”so elegantly”) and what they do are two different things.
The worst part is, this rookie has just done what he’s done in the heart of the land of our enemies and has the audacity to show his face at the American cemetery on Saturday.
