It’s more like global cooling here in Central New York. I’m glad I put off planting our tomatoes.

Local gardeners may want to take special measures to protect their plants this evening as a frost advisory has been issued for much of New York state, including Oneida County.

The advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect until 8 a.m. Monday.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the mid-to-low 30s overnight, and a hard frost is likely as temperatures in colder areas approach freezing.

This morning the local news reported that high elevation areas north of here may even see a little snow tonight. Brrrr! But by all means, let’s destroy our economy to protect us from global warming.

Wasn’t Porkulus supposed to “stimulate” the economy by creating jobs? Senators Schumer and Gillibrand promised that $120,000 in stimulus funds for Onondaga Lake clean up would bring jobs to the area. Instead, we’re getting a new pamphlet. That’s right, a pamphlet telling us about Onondaga Lake clean up. I can’t make this stuff up, folks.

It turns out none of it was true — except for the amount of taxpayer money involved.

The $120,000 will not rebuild infrastructure. It will not build anything. It won’t even clean up a single drop of the polluted lake.

The money — included in the $4.6 billion in federal stimulus funds headed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers — will pay to print a pamphlet about the lake cleanup, Army Corps officials say. Even then, the “State of the Lake” report won’t be completely new, according to Lynn Greer, the Onondaga Lake outreach coordinator for the Buffalo District of the Army Corps of Engineers.

The federal money will pay to update and reprint a 16-page color pamphlet from 2001, which updated the original version published in 1992.

When asked about the announcement by New York’s two U.S. senators referring to a job-creating infrastructure project, Greer said, “That’s not completely accurate.”

This isn’t exactly what one would consider a “shovel ready” job, unless what one is shovelling is BS.

Sweet! Jake Tapper Notices the Hypocrisy of Obama

Headline from ABC’s Jake Tapper:

First President in US History to Have Voted to Filibuster a Supreme Court Nominee Now Hopes for Clean Process

In January 2006, then-Sen. Obama joined 24 colleagues in a futile effort led by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to filibuster the Supreme Court nomination of now-Justice Samuel Alito.

On January 29, 2006, Mr. Obama told George Stephanopulos on “This Week” that he would “be supporting the filibuster because I think Judge Alito, in fact, is somebody who is contrary to core American values, not just liberal values, you know. When you look at his decisions in particular during times of war, we need a court that is independent and is going to provide some check on the executive branch, and he has not shown himself willing to do that repeatedly.”

Cheers to Jake Tapper. Let’s just hope he keeps his job.

President Obama recently declared that we’re broke. Yet he thought nothing of spending our money to jet off to Las Vegas and Los Angeles for a little Democratic Party fundraising. He sure has his priorities, that one. Forget about North Korea – he has to keep the democrats’ numbers up so those pesky republicans can’t block his agenda. Makes sense, in a twisted sort of way.

It also makes sense that a man showing his wife a nice time should be a priority. But why, oh why, can’t he show her a nice time a little closer to home? They live in the White House for crying out loud! But no, President Obama had to take first lady Michelle to New York City. Just like Valentine’s Day when they travelled to Chicago to dine in their favorite restaurant. These date nights are starting to add up. Only you and I – the little people - the unwashed masses – are supposed to feel the effects of the recession. Don’t expect the Obama’s to feel your pain. Heck, you’re picking up a big part of the tab. If only they’d tell us how much of the tab.

His public schedule listed no official events, so President Obama had plenty of time to devote to being a weekend dad and spouse.

The president and first lady Michelle Obama watched daughter Malia’s soccer game for an hour Saturday morning in the Palisades neighborhood, a short drive from the White House.

For the evening, the first couple jetted to New York City for date night. A Broadway show and probably dinner were on tap.

The White House refused to say how much the trip was costing taxpayers.

Whatever it cost us, it sounds like we they got our money’s worth.

President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama landed in New York Sunday afternoon, and after taking a helicopter from JFK into Manhattan, drove up the West Side Highway, where the northbound lanes were shut down by police for their visit, past Ground Zero, into the Village for dinner at the Village’s Blue Hill restaurant. From there, they went north to Times Square, where they went to to see a production of “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” at the Belasco Theater on West 44 Street.

Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest read a statement from Obama: “I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished.” (Emphasis mine)

But it’s not finished. We still have at least at least 1332 days until the nightmare ends. Can’t they wait?

Ok, call me stupid, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how President Obama is lifting our standing in the world. He disses our allies left and right while apologizing to our enemies. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out, maybe he’s trying some kind of reverse psychology or something.

But really, there’s no explanation for Robert Gibbs starting a war with the British press.

What a buffoon! Gibbs fired the first shot, and the Brit’s responded.
