What else is news?

Posted by: Lonely Conservative | Comments (0)

President Obama’s announcement of his nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court has eclipsed the rest of the news. Funny he chose the day after North Korea successfully tested a nuclear bomb to drop this bomb on the American people. What you may have missed:

disneyworld

This happened a few days ago, but it’s still worth mentioning. Florida Rep. Alan Grayson visited Disney World. He had such a marvelous time he decided introducing a bill requiring employers to provide paid vacation to all employees was a great idea. No kidding! Gee, thanks, Grayson. We may as well call ourselves the United States of France.

Surprise! After the state of Maryland created a millionaire’s tax bracket, Maryland lost millionaires. They’ve also lost millions in revenue. When will these people learn?

Obama to Appoint Cyber Czar

Posted by: Lonely Conservative | Comments (3)

This can’t be good.

President Obama is expected to announce late this week that he will create a “cyber czar,” a senior White House official who will have broad authority to develop strategy to protect the nation’s government-run and private computer networks, according to people who have been briefed on the plan.

The adviser will have the most comprehensive mandate granted to such an official to date and will probably be a member of the National Security Council but will report to the national security adviser as well as the senior White House economic adviser, said the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deliberations are not final.

The announcement will coincide with the long-anticipated release of a 40-page report that evaluates the government’s cybersecurity initiatives and policies. The report is intended to outline a “strategic vision” and the range of issues the new adviser must handle, but it will not delve into details, administration officials told reporters last month.

Just what we need, another unelected “czar” with broad power over the American people. Stephen Moore weighed in on the subject with Neil Cavuto. At this point there are more questions than answers.

President Obama named federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor as his pick for the Supreme Court this morning. It looks like he’s making up for disappointing the left wing base with this choice.

Here she says that the Court of Appeals is where policy is made. That’s not exactly what the Founders had in mind.

When it comes to gender and race, Judge Sotomayor seems to believe those attributes should play a role in a judge’s decision making process.

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

Not only does Judge Sotomayor believe the courts should make policy, and one’s life experiences should shape judicial philosophy, she’s also known as a bully that isn’t even that bright.

“She has an inflated opinion of herself, and is domineering during oral arguments, but her questions aren’t penetrating and don’t get to the heart of the issue.”

Below is video of Sotomayor’s speech after President Obama introduced her.
