It’s more like global cooling here in Central New York. I’m glad I put off planting our tomatoes.

Local gardeners may want to take special measures to protect their plants this evening as a frost advisory has been issued for much of New York state, including Oneida County.

The advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect until 8 a.m. Monday.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the mid-to-low 30s overnight, and a hard frost is likely as temperatures in colder areas approach freezing.

This morning the local news reported that high elevation areas north of here may even see a little snow tonight. Brrrr! But by all means, let’s destroy our economy to protect us from global warming.

Wasn’t Porkulus supposed to “stimulate” the economy by creating jobs? Senators Schumer and Gillibrand promised that $120,000 in stimulus funds for Onondaga Lake clean up would bring jobs to the area. Instead, we’re getting a new pamphlet. That’s right, a pamphlet telling us about Onondaga Lake clean up. I can’t make this stuff up, folks.

It turns out none of it was true — except for the amount of taxpayer money involved.

The $120,000 will not rebuild infrastructure. It will not build anything. It won’t even clean up a single drop of the polluted lake.

The money — included in the $4.6 billion in federal stimulus funds headed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers — will pay to print a pamphlet about the lake cleanup, Army Corps officials say. Even then, the “State of the Lake” report won’t be completely new, according to Lynn Greer, the Onondaga Lake outreach coordinator for the Buffalo District of the Army Corps of Engineers.

The federal money will pay to update and reprint a 16-page color pamphlet from 2001, which updated the original version published in 1992.

When asked about the announcement by New York’s two U.S. senators referring to a job-creating infrastructure project, Greer said, “That’s not completely accurate.”

This isn’t exactly what one would consider a “shovel ready” job, unless what one is shovelling is BS.

Sweet! Jake Tapper Notices the Hypocrisy of Obama

Headline from ABC’s Jake Tapper:

First President in US History to Have Voted to Filibuster a Supreme Court Nominee Now Hopes for Clean Process

In January 2006, then-Sen. Obama joined 24 colleagues in a futile effort led by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to filibuster the Supreme Court nomination of now-Justice Samuel Alito.

On January 29, 2006, Mr. Obama told George Stephanopulos on “This Week” that he would “be supporting the filibuster because I think Judge Alito, in fact, is somebody who is contrary to core American values, not just liberal values, you know. When you look at his decisions in particular during times of war, we need a court that is independent and is going to provide some check on the executive branch, and he has not shown himself willing to do that repeatedly.”

Cheers to Jake Tapper. Let’s just hope he keeps his job.

President Obama recently declared that we’re broke. Yet he thought nothing of spending our money to jet off to Las Vegas and Los Angeles for a little Democratic Party fundraising. He sure has his priorities, that one. Forget about North Korea – he has to keep the democrats’ numbers up so those pesky republicans can’t block his agenda. Makes sense, in a twisted sort of way.

It also makes sense that a man showing his wife a nice time should be a priority. But why, oh why, can’t he show her a nice time a little closer to home? They live in the White House for crying out loud! But no, President Obama had to take first lady Michelle to New York City. Just like Valentine’s Day when they travelled to Chicago to dine in their favorite restaurant. These date nights are starting to add up. Only you and I – the little people - the unwashed masses – are supposed to feel the effects of the recession. Don’t expect the Obama’s to feel your pain. Heck, you’re picking up a big part of the tab. If only they’d tell us how much of the tab.

His public schedule listed no official events, so President Obama had plenty of time to devote to being a weekend dad and spouse.

The president and first lady Michelle Obama watched daughter Malia’s soccer game for an hour Saturday morning in the Palisades neighborhood, a short drive from the White House.

For the evening, the first couple jetted to New York City for date night. A Broadway show and probably dinner were on tap.

The White House refused to say how much the trip was costing taxpayers.

Whatever it cost us, it sounds like we they got our money’s worth.

President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama landed in New York Sunday afternoon, and after taking a helicopter from JFK into Manhattan, drove up the West Side Highway, where the northbound lanes were shut down by police for their visit, past Ground Zero, into the Village for dinner at the Village’s Blue Hill restaurant. From there, they went north to Times Square, where they went to to see a production of “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” at the Belasco Theater on West 44 Street.

Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest read a statement from Obama: “I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished.” (Emphasis mine)

But it’s not finished. We still have at least at least 1332 days until the nightmare ends. Can’t they wait?

Ok, call me stupid, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how President Obama is lifting our standing in the world. He disses our allies left and right while apologizing to our enemies. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out, maybe he’s trying some kind of reverse psychology or something.

But really, there’s no explanation for Robert Gibbs starting a war with the British press.

What a buffoon! Gibbs fired the first shot, and the Brit’s responded.

Can you afford a Lexus?

Posted by: Lonely Conservative | Comments (3)

lexus

I know I can’t afford a Lexus. So why am I paying for one with my tax dollars? The Wall Street Journal had to search thousands of pages of congressional spending records because the information isn’t available electronically. You’ll be stunned at what they found we the taxpayers are on the hook for.

Rep. Michael Turner – R Ohio – $1435 for a Sony Digital SLR Camera

Rep. Alcee Hastings – D Florida – $24370 for a lease on a 2008 Lexus GS450H

Rep. Rodney Alexander – R Louisiana – $20,000 for a lease on a Toyota Highlander hybrid SUV

Rep. Eni Faleomavaega – D American Samoa – $1473 for a flat screen TV

Rep. Howard Berman – D California – $84,000 for personalized calenders for his constituents

President Obama just told us we’re broke. They’re considering all sorts of interesting new ways of squeezing more money out of the American taxpayer. They’re spending money like drunken sailors on luxury items for themselves themselves. And they couldn’t even lease their luxury automobiles from US carmakers. What a disgrace.

Katrina Pierson calls out Janeane Garofalo: Come to our Tea Party in Dallas on July Fourth. This is a great video that should be shared.

What Ms. Garofalo doesn’t understand is that most tea party protesters, and conservatives, are just regular Americans. We all go to work every day. We all make mistakes. The big myth in America is that conservatives are a bunch of un-sympathic people. It’s not true. We are humans, just like everyone else. We make mistakes just like everyone else – the difference is that we believe in personal responsibility.

If I make a mistake, I pay for my mistake. And you know what, I also learn from my mistake. Democrats think it’s mean to make a human being learn from his mistake. But in reality, what’s mean is to make that person dependent on government.

Why is that simple concept so difficult to comprehend?

Not that he’s advocating it….

New to the blogging scene, Albany Conservative has a similar idea. Stop the withholding from your paycheck, invest the money and then pay your taxes in April. Not only will it hurt the Treasury (which has no treasure, by the way) but you’ll earn a little interest on your money. I would also add, if there were no tax withholding Americans would really get a taste of what the federal government takes from them every year. It would be much more visible, which is a good thing.

President Obama sure is busy. He’s bringing socialism – or perhaps full blown communism (we’ll have to wait and see on that one) to the United States. North Korea has been threatening us and testing missiles and nuclear bombs. We’re still fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over six million Americans are out of work. Not to mention the banks, insurance companies and auto companies he has to run. I don’t know how he finds time to jet around the country on our dime for fundraising.

So it’s amazing he found the time to do a White House reality show today.

In fact, the White House had a reality-show-like feel Friday as NBC and the network’s anchor Brian Williams taped “Inside the Obama White House,” an exclusive, behind the scenes look at what goes on inside the White House and the West Wing each day.

All day, more than a dozen crews have been strategically placed throughout the White House in the West Wing and East Wing, capturing nearly every aspect of Obama’s day and talking to the key players, too.

I thought it was ridiculous. I actually scoffed! But then I saw this.

On his trip to get a burger with Brian Williams at Five Guys this afternoon, the President appears to have learned of the existence of a Defense Department intelligence arm, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, from an agency employee also at the burger restaurant.

“So explain to me exactly what this National Geospatial…” Obama said, after the worker mentioned his employer, according to a video of the event.

“We work with, uh, satellite imagery,” the worker, Walter replied.

Well, it’s a good thing President Obama had his little reality show today. If not, he may have never taken the time - since he’s so busy and all - to find out about this national security agency he oversees. Good thing he and Williams needed a burger, and a camera was there to catch it all on tape.

Exit question, do you think Obama would have talked to the worker if not for the cameras?

While I was cleaning up after dinner I was thinking about the Cloward-Piven strategy. I wasn’t wondering what I could do to stop it, unfortunately I’m afraid it’s too late. I was just thinking what a shame it all is. I feel really bad for my kids. With any luck by the time they grow up things will turn around, but history tells us otherwise.

I first read James Simpson’s in-depth analysis, The Cloward-Piven Strategy of Manufactured Crisis, back in September. To say I was concerned is putting it mildly. I know enough of history to fear communism or any form of it. I emailed the essay to everyone I know asking that they at least read it before casting their ballot in November. I know it made a difference for at least one person. She – a life long democrat – was horrified. She’d been so busy working her whole life she didn’t follow current events. She trusted the main stream media. Unfortunately, not enough people read that essay. And I suppose those who did brushed it aside, thinking it was probably written by some right wing extremist. Unfortunately, anyone in America who believes in the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the vision of our Founding Fathers is now a right wing extremist.

It should now be clear to anyone paying attention that Simpson was correct. It’s happening before our very eyes. Banks and auto companies are being nationalized. Who ever thought the United States government would own a majority share of General Motors? Who ever thought a sitting president could force a law-abiding CEO of a major company to resign? Who ever thought the government would be running banks and insurance companies and then hanging their employees out to dry? Who ever thought corrupt organizations like ACORN would be involved in conducting the US Census, or jack-booted thugs terrorizing voters would be let off the hook? Who ever thought bondholders - with what were presumed to be legal and binding contracts - would be threatened by the United States government?

So anyway, I decided to think about something else. I turned on the computer and saw this, from Pravda! And no, I don’t mean the US main stream media, I mean the real Pravda. In Russia.

Beware the Czars

The Latest Czar to Regulate Far More than Cars

www.WAMAction.org
A long-forecast and dreaded announcement came this morning from the head of the “Change” Administration himself. The astonishing sequence of end-runs, by the “Change” Adminisitration – around traditional and critical structures which preserve the U.S. Constitution- and its balance of powers – seems about to take its greatest toll to date. The protections provided by the 3 American branches of government have continued to erode via Obama’s unprecedented installation of “Czars” – i,e, politically hand-picked individuals who are given enormous powers over free enterprise – and whom report directly to the Chief Excutive himself. This newly invented system for expanding Executive branch authority, among its other dangers, eliminates the need for Congressional approval or involvement with these power-packed new authority figures. It also short circuits Capitol Hill oversight of the activities which they undertake.

Remember the Black Panthers who were threatening and intimidating voters in Philadelphia on election day? Obama’s Justice Department has decided to drop the charges against those men. Why am I not surprised?

The career Justice lawyers were on the verge of securing sanctions against the men earlier this month when their superiors ordered them to reverse course, according to interviews and documents. The court had already entered a default judgment against the men on April 20.

A Justice Department spokesman on Thursday confirmed that the agency had dropped the case, dismissing two of the men from the lawsuit with no penalty and winning an order against the third man that simply prohibits him from bringing a weapon to a polling place in future elections.

In other words, the career lawyers with no attachment to the Obama machine thought this was a case worth pursuing. Team Obama got involved and overruled them. Justice in the age of Obama. Oh, well, as long as they’re not allowed to bring weapons to a polling place in the future Philadelphia voters should feel comforted. In case you missed it watch the video below.
