The Big Picture
By Lonely ConservativeSwine flu, numbskulls in the White House arranging Air Force One photo-ops over New York City, releasing CIA memos to appease George Soros and the lunatic fringe, teleprompter gaffes….the list goes on and on. Is all of this intended to distract us from the real news?
With things so muddled it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture. But really, it’s there for all to see.
Yesterday it was reported that the Treasury needs to borrow unprecendented amounts of money this quarter and next quarter: a combined $876 Billion. Why isn’t the media reporting this story? Nobody had a problem highlighting the spending when George W. Bush was president, even if they did downplay the role of Congress. So where is the outrage over this (emphasis mine)?
The administration is projecting the federal deficit for the entire budget year ending Sept. 30, will total a record $1.75 trillion. A deficit at that level would nearly quadruple the previous record of $454.8 billion set last year.
To cover the government’s heavy borrowing needs, Congress in February boosted the limit for the national debt to $12.1 trillion as part of the legislation that enacted President Barack Obama’s $787 billion economic stimulus program. The national debt now stands at $11.1 trillion.
You can hardly blame George W. Bush for quadrupling the national debt in 2009. And wasn’t all of the stimulus spending supposed to stimulate jobs growth? So why do employers keep letting people go? Do they see the writing on the wall?
The government will control one of the Big Three automakers and in the process they’re totally sticking it to bondholders. This is supposed to be the United States of America, not Venezuela. Yet there’s very little concern on the part of the media about the government controlling a major US business – a business that should have gone bankrupt without any government intervention. (Yes, we can thank George Bush for getting that ball rolling, but somehow I believe we would have ended up with same result had he done nothing.)
Regulators are telling banks to raise more capital, but how are they supposed to raise more capital when the government’s actions are destroying capital? If the government doesn’t want to control the banking industry why won’t they allow banks to pay back TARP funds? Wouldn’t that reduce the amount of money the Treasury needs to borrow? While on the subject of TARP, were you aware that the original $700 billion TARP was illegally expanded to $3 trillion (with a T) with barely a peep from the media. (You may want to bookmark that last link.)
Barack Obama said he doesn’t want to put private insurance companies out of business. But other democrats are singing a different tune, the same tune Barack Obama was singing in 2003. Why does it take bloggers to report this information?
Democrats continue to push climate change legislation while censoring any dissenting opinions. They claim to care about jobs, but if they pass a cap and trade tax it will surely mean less jobs for Americans. Why won’t the media report the truth?
It’s pretty easy to figure out the big picture, isn’t it? Control of the banking industry, control of business, control of health care - government control of everything.
Do you really want a government that believes low flying planes over New York City makes a good photo-op running your entire life?

I hate to say it but the gov’t (and the UAW) needs to run GM.
It’ll go belly up and we can then say: “Look how they ran GM, want them to run Healthcare too?”
The only reason gov’t run healthcare get any traction is too many peeps want something for nothing.
