Fairness Doctrine for Radio and Internet but not TV News

By Lonely Conservative

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman and the FCC are working behind the scenes to implement the Fairness Doctrine, without calling it the Fairness Doctrine. While there’s no talk of regulating the big network news programs, they are talking about regulating the internet!

Waxman is also interested, say sources, in looking at how the Internet is being used for content and free speech purposes. “It’s all about diversity in media,” says a House Energy staffer, familiar with the meetings. “Does one radio station or one station group control four of the five most powerful outlets in one community? Do four stations in one region carry Rush Limbaugh, and nothing else during the same time slot? Does one heavily trafficked Internet site present one side of an issue and not link to sites that present alternative views? These are some of the questions the chairman is thinking about right now, and we are going to have an FCC that will finally have the people in place to answer them.”

While President Obama was a candidate he stated he had no interest in imposing the Fairness Doctrine. He seems to have changed his mind, or at least he’s leaving the option open. White House advisor David Axelrod was asked by Chris Matthews on Sunday if President Obama would rule out imposing the Fairness Doctrine. Guess what!? Axelrod wouldn’t answer.

The new administration has no interest whatsoever in making sure MSNBC, CBS, ABC or CNN provide balanced news coverage. Talk radio and the internet are an entirely different story. Get ready to kiss your First Amendment rights goodbye.

1st and 2nd amendment rights are in some serious trouble. Both we cannot afford to lose.
I see Hugo has convinced his follwers to give him and his thugs unlimited term ability. Nice. I guess those people don’t care about themselves either. I’m sure Bloomberg has called down there asking him for some pointers.

As I have said before two issues will tear this country almost immediately. Guns and speech will be the end of the Union as we know.
Maybe they want us to leave. Be tough for you, but maybe you could slip over into PA and get by. Or NH since they do not seem to buy the Federlism either. Can you get there without going through CT? LOL.
Can they be that stupid? Really?

i’m in PA and not thinkin of leaving anytime soon because of the Commonwealth’s stance (thus far…). And i guess we have history to teach us how to go underground with free speech if need be. Cause you know after free speech and guns, next will be religion.

And yes, i’m willing to die for all three. i will not bow down …never. i really like what Hannity said..that ‘they’ would have to break into his studio and pry the microphone from his hands. Agreed. Completely. Our Founding Men and Women didn’t fight for our freedoms with their very lives for this….

…”4.) Typical of Marxist thought and statist philosophy in general, is the notion that the market needs “police” to keep it in line. When not intervened with, prodded, needled, second-guessed, and otherwise tampered with, here’s an inconvenient truth for the government apologists: True free markets always correct themselves. Let one exist in the first place, then try saying it just ain’t so.”…

I guess this is about finding a voice in radio. Radio talk shows are growing and the free speech will stand. If journalist can be protected for years, don’t be so concerned that it stops you from getting a radio show going yourself. Just do it by getting connected inside the industry in no time at all. http://www.radioconnection.com Trains at the radio station near you on the job.
