The Rookie
There’s been much speculation about the direction Barack Obama will go when he ascends to the Presidency. Some believe he may take the moderate route, a la Bill Clinton. Others believe he’ll take the liberal route, a la Jimmy Carter, while others fear he will try to quietly and incrementally pass leftist legislation with the aid and cover of the main stream media.
The way things are shaping up, it appears he may take the full throttle lefty route, possibly starting with nationalizing health care. According to the Wall Street Journal, the selection of Tom Daschle to head HHS, and last week’s release of a health care policy blue print by Senator Max Baucus, are strong signs that we’re headed toward a national health care plan.
We keep hearing promises of free or really cheap health care. But have you noticed that nobody talks about the cost of Medicare and Medicaid. We can’t afford those programs, let alone a new, much larger program!
Not that the current level of benefits will ever be paid. According to the Medicare trustees, the program’s excess costs over the next 75 years — that is, the difference between expected outlays and revenues — is more than $36 trillion, which even they acknowledge is several trillion too low given current trends. Even if Congress doubled all individual and corporate tax rates, it still wouldn’t raise enough revenue to pay for Medicare and Medicaid. Read full article.
While the economy is teetering on the brink of disaster, it appears there is nothing in the Obama pipeline to actually stimulate the economy. It will be more spending and the only way to pay for that is higher taxes. The stock market’s reaction to the election of Barack Obama has been the worst reaction to any election ever. Rather than quickly assembling an economic team to signal he has an economic plan, Obama’s naming his picks for slots like HHS Secretary. The Journal called it a rookie mistake.
What can we expect but rookie mistakes from Barack Obama? His experience consists of community organizing with the likes of ACORN, voting present in the Illinois state senate and running for president while posing as a United States senator.
I’d love to see Barack Obama try a little experiment. He should come out and declare that he will consider reducing capital gains tax rates (what’s there to lose, nobody is gaining capital anyway), reducing income taxes for true middle class workers and reigning in government spending. I’d bet my 401k the market would react positively. And Barack Obama would look less like a rookie.

It is still literally inconceivable to me that this man was elected. Inconceivable. What his election tells me is that we allowed a leftist coup de tat years ago, in the universities sifting down to the public grade schools—while we happily assumed that it couldn’t happen HERE….this is just a nightmare. TOM DASCHLE???! “Rookie mistakes”? Is this baseball or the preservation of the most powerful nation on earth?
I’m preparing for bad times–stocking food, essentials, etc. Whatever will make me more comfortable and cost me less cash down the road when this bozo and his cohorts in Congress run us the rest of the way into the ground. Because it’s going to be a lot more painful before it gets better–and being one of those people who did not drink the Obama koolaid, I don’t need to sit and wait for the government to come save me. Prepare for it and then laugh at the left when it happens.

Not sure how many people understand health care in other nations. The UK is cited as an example to follow. The UK and the U.S. may be the closest in actual practice. Here are some facts people may not be aware of,
As many 6,000 patient for one dentist.
Doctors opting out of NHS for private practice.
Yes, private practice in the UK for those who wish to pay for immediate and superior care.
Health care is deducted from the check, (No, it’s not free)
Some people pay additional policies to get better and quicker health care. This is also true in Spain.
In Canada the health care is not deducted by the government but a quarterly charge.
While Canada is a neighbor, their make up is much different. Roughly 35 million of which most work. Unlike the U.S.and the U.K. which has a large population of non-productive citizens.
By the way, both UK and Canada have a national consumer tax in addition to an income tax. Don’t ever let anyone tell you we can get by with just a consumer tax.
Great article . . . ..
