Justice Scalia on 60 Minutes
Posted by: | CommentsI just watched 60 Minutes on CBS and Leslie Stahl interviewed Justice Antonin Scalia. I’ve always respected him and when I’ve read opinions he’s authored I’ve been very impressed. I never knew how down to earth he is and I was quite surprised that CBS gave him such fair treatment. I didn’t see the entire interview, but saw a good deal of it.
They did mention why some don’t like him, but let him have his say and of course he said it well. Even Ruth Bader Ginsberg had nice things to say about him, although they disagree philosophically. I thought I would mention this because I do tend to pick on the media, so when they get something right I feel I should also comment.

Unhinged!
Posted by: | CommentsJust for fun I thought I’d check out what they’re saying over at the Huffington Post. The front page has a huge headline about the meltdown of the economy, because Alan Greenspan said tax cuts won’t work without spending cuts. I saw the interview they reference and no screaming headlines about economic meltdown came to my mind.
There’s the usual Palin/McCain/Cheney bashing that you would expect. The most sane posting was “We’re gonna frickin’ lose this thing.” It went down hill from there.
Suddently, their arch-nemesis, Karl Rove, is an expert because he said one of McCain’s ads went a bit too far. They even posted video of the evil-genius. You know they’re losing it when they find themselves on the side of the Architect.
Have you ever seen someone freaking out about something? They start talking really fast and blurting out whatever happens to pop into their heads at the given moment? That’s what’s going on with the left in the past few weeks. It’s a steady stream of verbal vomit.
For example, Michael Seitzman revealed that he would like to have sex with Sarah Palin on his Barack Obama sheets while his wife reads the Constitution and then goes on to tell conservatives that we’re idiots. Does anyone else find this bizarre, to say the least?

New York Times – Still calling voters stupid!
Posted by: | CommentsThe opinion page of the New York Times this morning is chock full of columns about how a vote for McCain/Palin is stupid.
Maureen Dowd says “An Arctic blast of action has swept into the 2008 race, making thinking passé.” Thomas Friedman’s column is titled “Making America Stupid”. I’m not sure where they grew up, but someone should tell them that people don’t like being called names, especially stupid.
Frank Rich didn’t come right out and call us stupid, for which I was grateful, until I read his wordy column calling us racist. He rambled about some other things too, but I got really bored and forgot what I read immediately.
The New York Times just doesn’t seem to understand that the more they insult us, and the more they attack John McCain and Sarah Palin, they are simply causing further damage to their candidate. I hope they keep it up right until election day.

Central NY-Looking for change? Then why vote for Maffei?
Posted by: | CommentsWe keep hearing that this election is the election about change. Wasn’t that what we heard in 2006, when controll of both houses of Congress was taken over by the Democrats? Do you recall the price of gas in 2006? It wasn’t hovering around $4.00 a gallon, that’s for sure. Do you remember the Democrats promising to bring down the price of gasoline? Instead, they’ve done everything possible to stand in the way of energy indepenence.
Another thing to keep in mind is that George W. Bush is not running for anything. When the next Congress convenes George Bush will be home in Texas, planning his library. He’s out, so why vote against him?
Dan Maffei’s been hanging around Washington for years, watching and learning from the Democrat establishment. In fact, he’s raised millions of dollars from DC Democrats. Do you think he isn’t going to be beholden to those very people if he’s elected? Do you believe he will take a stand against his party to do what’s in the best interests of the country?
Maffei talks about running for Congress to improve the lives of people in Upstate NY. If that’s true, where’s he been the past 20 years? Why didn’t he come home and run for local or state office? I believe he had another agenda – the political career of Dan Maffei.
The Republican party has done little to help Dale Sweetland. They figure the Democrats are spending so much money on Dan Maffei that it’s a losing battle. Sweetland won’t owe anything to anyone. He may as well be running as an Independent. And unlike Dan Maffei, Dale Sweetland has been here in Central New York all along. He’s actually been doing what Dan Maffei only talks about.
