I just watched Greta’s special on Fox News “Governor Sarah Palin – An American Woman“. Greta interviewed many Alaskans who know Sarah Palin and are quite familiar with her record. They all had good things to say about Governor Palin.

For the past week from the media and the left we’ve heard nasty rumors about the Governor. We’ve heard them question her ability to be a “heart beat from the Presidency” and we’ve all heard that she had a speech writer. And who can forget that she certainly can’t be a good mother and Vice President at the same time.

Sarah Palin proved that she can deliver a speech. She certainly rivals Barack Obama in her “celebrity” appeal. She has charisma and stage presence, there is no doubt about that. She stood in front of forty million Americans and delivered an incredible speech.

Unfortunately for her opponents, that is not all there is to Sarah Palin. She can put her money where her mouth is. She has the record to back up her celebrity status. As Governor of Alaska she has an 80% approval rating. That is almost unprecedented. It seems that Sarah Palin has never forgotten who she serves.

She put her career on the line to expose corruption in her own party. She sold the Governor’s plane on e-bay and vetoed nearly one quarter of a billion dollars in earmarks. She’s incredibly accomplished and competent. Whatever this woman chooses to do she does well.  Who would not want her resume?

What’s so fascinating about Governor Palin is that she is so ordinary, yet extraordinary at the same time. It seems as though she was initially written off as just another pretty face, just another right wing nut out to ruin the lives of women in America. Sorry to tell you, MSM, but you are dead wrong.

My apologies

While checking comments on my site I noticed one of the blog rolls I was a member of had a racist name. As soon as I saw it I had it removed and I have asked to be removed from the blog roll. If anyone was offended, I am truly sorry. In no way do I condone that sort of racism and I certainly never intended to promote it on my web site.

$1.26

My husband and I received a letter from our church, celebrating our upcoming ten year wedding anniversary. Fortunately, the good times have outweighed the bad. In fact, our life is much better than it was 10 years ago. We bought a newer old house and we have two healthy boys. We both have good jobs and other than being a little bit tired we are living “happily ever after.”

Attached to the letter from our church was a “News of the Past” page prepared especially for us. In 1998 the Broncos beat the Packers in Super Bowl XXXII and the New York Yankees swept the San Diego Padres in the World Series.

In 1998 the price of a gallon of gas was $1.26!

Today I drove past a gas station whose advertised price of a gallon of gas was $3.79. If we elect a drill-nothing Democrat Congress and a drill-nothing Democrat President I guess it’s safe to assume that by the time our 20 year anniversary rolls around we’ll be paying about $11.34 per gallon.

Let’s not let that happen.

Sarah Palin’s done more than bring some vitatlity to John McCain’s presidential campaign. She’s also given the eyeglass industry a big boost. While searching for a story of her glasses I came across a few snide articles saying she should get new glasses, that her’s aren’t very fashionable. Sort of like the snipes people have made about her hair.

Well, if her glasses were out of date, what’s old is new again. It seems the manufacturer of Governor Palin’s eyeglasses is being flooded with orders for glasses just like hers.

It’s been awhile since the optical business has been as charged by celebrity specs as it has by the rimless pair the vice presidential nominee wears most of the time. If she wins, it could rock the vision-care market, which totals $26.6 billion a year, says tracker Jobson Optical Research.

Now she’s started an eyeglasses craze. Poor Obama, he’s not just running against John McCain, he’s also running against Sarah Palin. Who is Obama’s running mate? I forgot.

Lefty eliitst snobs not only don’t recognize the trait in themselves, they fail to admit there is any elitism coming from the left at all. Barack Obama’s remarks that bitter Americans cling to guns and religion, in their minds, is nothing more than a statement of fact. Paul Krugman proves it when he calls up the ghost of Richard Nixon in his latest piece. He argues that the GOP is still the party of Nixon. Now the Democrats not only get to run against George Bush, but also Richard Nixon.

But don’t be fooled either by Mr. McCain’s long-ago reputation as a maverick or by Ms. Palin’s appealing persona: the Republican Party, now more than ever, is firmly in the hands of the angry right, which has always been much bigger, much more influential and much angrier than its counterpart on the other side.

Is he serious? Has he ever seen the Daily Kos? What about Huffington Post, where they now have someone monitoring comments to weed out the hate and the obscene? Gee whiz, has he ever read any of his own columns?

He argues “there is no evidence whatsoever that Democrats look down their noses at regular people.” Isn’t telling regular people they aren’t able to handle their own affairs without the help of some liberal/socialist politician a form of “looking down” on them?
